Musings from Richard about Bree

Today is like any other day in town.  So many crimes to halt, so little time.  From a vagrant who was unlawfully squatting at a rock outside of town, to an old dwarf attacking me unprovoked.  Though the crimes in this town have decreased in the past weeks, partially thanks to my machinations, it will only be so long before lawlessness returns.  Though the crimes are different, the song's so damn similar.  "I know my rights; You don't have the authority; The watch will hear of this; You filthy foreigner."  It goes on and on.

However, I must take this all in stride, for soon it won't matter.

The Mayor seems to overwork himself to exhaustion, which leads to sickness.  My men report he is very overwhelmed with the paperwork and situating the affairs of the town, so much so he can't be bothered to care about the happenings out on the streets.  However, it'll be a matter of time before he comes around to objecting to my methods of carrying out the law.  Hence, it is in our best interest he receive regular doses of medicine, starting immediately.  Should keep him "well enough" to be quiet, given the right potency of the medicine.  I will need to find a proper alchemist to brew up the potion for our dear mayor.

As for the old dwarf, Dufr.  I cannot keep him locked up forever, especially considering the possibility of his kin marching into town and demanding for his release.  I'll deal with those when the time comes.  For now, I'll keep hearing all the jeers and whining from the civilians.
