| Outward Appearance | Hawk is a young person with very fair looks, a svelte body, and a soft, pleasantly husky voice - all of this together makes his gender very, very difficult to determine, even in close quarters. His androgyny allows him to pass as either male or female, and he has been known to switch clothing to suit his purpose -- though he is tall and does so rarely now. To the confusion of many, he balances well on the fine line between masculine and feminine beauty, a fact which gets him into quite a bit of trouble. Whether concerning himself or others, Hawk worries very little about gender or gender 'norms.'
He has dark, tousled hair that seems always to fall into his face and which reaches down his back. His eyes are dark brown, expressive, and usually gleaming with amusement and mischief. He's tall (~6’2”/74in/188cm) and still growing, long of limb and modestly muscular, with a build that is wiry and lithe -- more suited for athletics than full on combat. Consequently, Hawk is both very fast and very nimble. He now has a dark brand on his left shoulder in the shape of a coiled viper, burned there against his will.
It's obvious to those familiar with Bree-folk that he's got some mixed blood in him, as he's taller and more graceful in appearance than the average Bree-lander: his mother was actually a beautiful (though ill-fated) Gondorian woman and he inherited his looks and physical traits from her, from his height to his sharp, attractive features (perhaps a testament to ancient Elven bloodlines, which is common of Gondorian nobility).
Personality-wise, Hawk is something of a troublemaker with an authority complex and a massive chip on his shoulder, with obvious disdain for entitled rich people, arrogant nobility, and corrupt officials. He's clever and fun-loving but moody, and he has been known to brawl and commit crimes. Even still, he is good at heart, and protective of Bree-land's lower class (especially the beggars and prostitutes), whom he helps in any way he can. He is very much like a stray cat in his habits and mannerisms.

Background
(Always a work in progress!)
Hawk doesn't like to talk about himself much, unless it's a joke or a story about some caper he's done - he won't even say if Hawk is his real name (it isn't), and he never speaks about his father or uses his surname. He makes no attempt to hide the fact that he's the son of a whore, however, having accepted what that means and what people will think of him because of it.
His mother was a young woman from Dol Amroth in Gondor, a relative of the royal family. She'd fled from a troubled and dangerous life in court and ended up in Bree-land as a refugee. Poor and alone, without family or influence, she turned to prostitution in order to make a life for herself. She died when Hawk was only a small child, for she was a slight woman, frail and suffering from a weak constitution, so the pneumonia quickly overtook her after a particularly bitter Bree-land winter. The father of her child was alleged to be a wealthy, influential man in town, but cruel and miserly. He'd refused to acknowledge her once her pregnancy was apparent and he never once invested in her or the child; rather, he took great pains to distance himself from any affiliation with them. The name "Hawk" is an alias: his real name, chosen by his mother and one he reveals almost to no one, is Gwaelion*, which means ''seagull' in Sindarin. |*Note: gwael is an older Sindarin word and was later replaced by mael or mŷl but I prefer the older word.|
Thus, after his mother's death, Hawk was raised in a whorehouse by prostitutes, who became his family. He knew who his father was (or thought he did) and he grew up with a terrible hatred for him, which naturally evolved into a hatred for people with power, money, and influence. It wasn't only his own pain that bothered him: he'd grown up seeing how poorly the people who'd raised him were used, how the poor and the orphans like him were treated. Like them, he was an outcast, and like them he'd grown up with the anger, the fear, the hunger, and the cold certainty that every day could be his last. He was constantly reminded that he was a bastard, unwanted, completely unaware of his heritage and birthright.
As a young adult he's evolved and overcome many struggles, having lived and learned in the slums of Bree-town. From the Alley rats he learned thieving and scorn; from the scholars in the Archives he learned his letters and numbers; from the whores he learned charm and carnal knowledge; from the merchants and craftsmen he learned haggling and bits of various trade; and from the adventurers he learned drinking and stories from the wider world.
One can find him at the taverns, the red light district, Beggar's Alley, and anywhere else there is likely to be trouble or fun. He has no real job or place of residence, so he works odd jobs, does favours (often of the physical kind), and usually stays with friends or wherever there's an open bed. Until recently, he'd been squatting in an abandoned flat near Beggar's Alley that he liked to call ''the hideout,'' but moved on from that place after the return of it's rightful owner. Then a seedy dosshouse became his refuge, and that was where he occasionally slept until a friend recently offered to let him stay in her rented quarters at the Prancing Pony.
After a year or so of laying low after the death of his father's henchman (during the events which led to his being kidnapped by the Viper), having been living both aimlessly and recklessly, Hawk has decided to prove his worth and learn the skills of an adventurer under the tutelage of the Nightwind and her companions. He can only wonder when that training will lead to travels, how far from Bree-town he will go, and for how long.
Having traveled far and wide through Eriador, Rohan, and Gondor, Hawk experienced many hardships and adventures with his group of companions (namely Xanderian ,Xandilif, Nethrida, Eduwiges , Calidis, and Addiela). After being arrested due to serious accusations, Hawk was placed in prison in Dol Amroth while awaiting transfer to Minas Tirith. Unfortunately the convoy was ambushed by the Viper and during the commotion Hawk appeared to have met a shocking and untimely fate. He was presumed dead.
Discovered upon the shore by an Elf of the Avorrim, Hawk's broken body was carried to the secret haven overlooking the Bay, where he clung to life by the merest thread. After many long months of careful healing, he awoke, though a head wound had deprived him of his memories. He dwelled among the Avorrim for a time, training and growing stronger, until he was eventually found by Xanderian, whom he accompanied back to Tol Lochul to be reunited with his friends and hopefully regain all that he had lost.
