Outward Appearance

Height: 5’11”
Build: Willowy with long arms and long legs. She does have some amount of muscle from forgework and crafting with precious metals and stone but it is obvious that she is not used to a lot of heavy combat.
Hair: Raven black, thick, wavy. It is not exactly soft but it is not overly coarse either. It is prone to getting messy. She had cut it off after learning of her parents’ deaths but it is now grown to her waist and she keeps it trimmed there. She does not usually braid her hair and often wears it unstyled and unbound in any way unless she is at her craft, where she ties it back with a ribbon.
Eyes: Black as pitch. It is extremely hard to see where her pupil begins unless one looks closely. Thus, it is sometimes difficult to determine if she is looking at someone or not, though most of the time it seems as if she sees right through someone. If she is indeed staring at someone intently, they can make one feel a little unnerved. When she laughs or is happy, they seem to sparkle.
Skin: Exceedingly pale but it does not have a sickly looking cast to it.
Voice: Her voice is soft/lilting and she enunciates well. When she sings, her voice is not spectacular but is rather pretty.
Other features: Her fingers are long and her wrists are sturdy. She walks gracefully with a more toe-to-heel approach.
Apparel: She dresses most often in somber colors, as if she is in some sort of perpetual state of mourning. She is beginning to adorn herself with understated and relevant finery as she had in the distant past and as had befitted the lady she once was.
Personal items: A circular pendant of adamant hung on a silver chain that seems to often glow with a strange light. Also, a ring in a similar fashion, set with an adamant, worn on the middle finger of her right hand. On her left hand is a marriage band on her ring finger...
Languages: Noldorin Quenya (fluent), Sindarin (fluent), Westron (fluent - lightly accented), Rohirric (not fluent), Black Speech (conversational - will never speak it in polite company).

Background

Calidis was born to Aegrod, a respected jeweller of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain of Eregion, and Calidhriel, a poet and songstress, in the months following the departure of Galadriel and Celeborn from the region. She was a happy child and followed in her father's footsteps, becoming his apprentice and taking up his craft and learning to imbue trinkets and jewelry with power... Until the treachery of Annatar was revealed and talk of war spread throughout the land. She, who had never seen war, could have never predicted the destruction that Sauron's forces would rain down upon the place of her birth.

In the ensuing panic after the Dark Lord's forces invaded Ost-in-Edhil, she was separated from her mother as she sought to find her father. She saw him struck down upon the steps of the guild house with Celebrimbor with her own eyes and remembers very little of how she found herself with the group of survivors that had made it to safety among Lord Elrond's host. It was not long after that she learned her mother had fled with other survivors into Khazad-dûm and had faded away after her husband's death before they could take refuge in Lothlórien.

For many years, following these events, Calidis alternated between despair and hope, aided by the power of a pendant her father had given her. She was prone to having nightmares and changed from the happy person she was to someone quiet and somewhat shy. She began to wear more somber colors and others around her noticed, with concern, her sudden strange zeal for her craft and the hyperfocus with which she brought forth both jewels both ordinary and powerful.

With each passing year, she perfects her craft ever further, drawing upon the knowledge her father had bequeathed her with, stored within her mind.

When she is not at her craft, does not have her nose in a book, and is not sitting alone thinking deep thoughts in silence, she is sometimes brave enough to seek out company, knowing that it would do her good to socialize more, though she feels she is poor at conversation and prefers to hear others speak.
