Background
Calidis was born to Aegrod, a respected jeweller of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain of Eregion, and Calidhriel, a poet and songstress, in the months following the departure of Galadriel and Celeborn from the region. She was a happy child and followed in her father's footsteps, becoming his apprentice and taking up his craft and learning to imbue trinkets and jewelry with power... Until the treachery of Annatar was revealed and talk of war spread throughout the land. She, who had never seen war, could have never predicted the destruction that Sauron's forces would rain down upon the place of her birth.
In the ensuing panic after the Dark Lord's forces invaded Ost-in-Edhil, she was separated from her mother as she sought to find her father. She saw him struck down upon the steps of the guild house with Celebrimbor with her own eyes and remembers very little of how she found herself with the group of survivors that had made it to safety among Lord Elrond's host. It was not long after that she learned her mother had fled with other survivors into Khazad-dûm and had faded away after her husband's death before they could take refuge in Lothlórien.
For many years, following these events, Calidis alternated between despair and hope, aided by the power of a pendant her father had given her. She was prone to having nightmares and changed from the happy person she was to someone quiet and somewhat shy. She began to wear more somber colors and others around her noticed, with concern, her sudden strange zeal for her craft and the hyperfocus with which she brought forth both jewels both ordinary and powerful.
With each passing year, she perfects her craft ever further, drawing upon the knowledge her father had bequeathed her with, stored within her mind.
When she is not at her craft, does not have her nose in a book, and is not sitting alone thinking deep thoughts in silence, she is sometimes brave enough to seek out company, knowing that it would do her good to socialize more, though she feels she is poor at conversation and prefers to hear others speak.
