Captain's Quick Report: Black Salad Day at the Yard Party

Time often seems to be of the essence, and sometimes frequent journeys and business upon the road can blur together as a result.  But amongst them can be recalled many still that stand as strong memories to remember, and as always – gatherings and experiences to fondly safeguard forever for all my days in Middle-Earth.

And the Bird and Baby Yard Parties are no exception, as are others such as the OAKS in Oldfurlong; both are regular, and special, events organized by some Hobbits of the Shire; inviting travelers and visitors from near and far to attend if they can make the journey.  Though Middle-Earth is vast indeed, some yet do manage by good fortune to attend – such as myself on behalf of the Bree Captain’s Guild!

Having previously played and made a name for themselves already among the Hobbit community, the Black Salad Day musicians together form a band of varied individuals known from different places in Shire society, and some even farther away.  ( There was an Elven Lady among them if I recall proper! )  Together they performed in front of the Bird and Baby Inn an assortment of music that struck me in descriptive thought as ‘moody, but not of the brooding variety’ – it was as if a more somber, but not gloomy, collection of tunes were played… that were also of a theme of mysterious, but not ill-humoured... nor sharply sullen… some were actually quite a merry and lively song as well!

But alas, no true artisan of music am I of any professional level – merely an ol’ Bree Captain whom attends celebrations, cultural events open to the public and Free Peoples at large!  But nevertheless, Black Salad Day and it’s musicians did perform with wild success as ever I did see once more at the Yard Party – and among the audience there was many dear friends of the band and of the musical community of our Middle-earth throughout.  Why, even Master Silon was there for some time, did I spot through the crowded audience early on, there with Miss Dassa – a fine Hobbit couple they make, always a heartfelt pleasure ‘tis to see them before my very own eyes.  Hoho!

Time beckons however, and much is to be done these approaching weeks… much in fact is coming to Middle-Earth, and the Free Folk I hear!  In a few days there will be occasions such as the Rory and Gaby Project performing a concert in Evendim, atop what is known as High King’s Crossing – the Colossus statue standing watch there.  The day right before that, the next OAKS (Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series) will be hosted within the bounds of Oldfurlong, a village of Hobbits south of the Shire in the Southfarthings – featuring the Remediators band so word goes!

There is on that same day just slightly earlier, the ‘ "Polnolunie" presents: concert "All That You Want" ‘ will be happening in Bree, with fantastic stories and lyrics to be sung and performed by the band I hear.  Exciting things await in the future, especially with the growing rumours of Anniversary celebrations of a sort also taking place soon this Month, close to the last week!

Congratulations to Black Salad Day for a most eventful success at the weekly Bird and Baby Yard Party just hours ago!  Outstanding well done!

Signed,

Captain Naismithea Willarc

Watcher of Roads
Representative of the Bree Captain's Guild
Officer of the Sworn Wanderers
