Captain's Quick Report: Music from Laterna Magica stories with The White Flames
If there is one thing this Bree Captain is guilty of, it is that many talented musicians, bands, and songs often heard in Middle-earth strikes a soft spot within; and I cannot help but continue dwelling upon it for a long time afterwards! There is great imagination and story-telling among us, and most times you need look no further than the enchanting songs, poems, lyrics, and melodies passionate artists share with us throughout this land.
And this day was nary an exception, not by any stretch of the horizon!
What The White Flames have achieved upon here is a fantastic blending of musical tunes and stories that tell most interesting tales; nearly all of which tonight were described in one way or another as being part of someplace or person from the past of Middle-earth. While some may certainly be hard to fathom; certainly such as those songs pertaining to sky-ships, or barrow-wights named Dracula, and heroes named Mister Bond -- the fiery passion and talents of these musicians forged ahead to leave no time for doubts. They performed these songs with outstanding quality in instrumental arrangement and believable spirit that immersed us in a way some of the only top excellent bands, poets, musicians, and story-tellers in Middle-earth can manage.
Here in the neighbourhood of Gundalaf, located somewhere amongst the Falathlorn homesteads -- this ol' Bree Captain has been witness to a most truly magical (indeed as advertised in their event posters and invitation letters) musical performance that brings The White Flames to a reputation in my books -- that joins the ranks of those whom demonstrate excellence in fantastic melodies, and even more fantastic stories and context that can accompany their songs; making their performance that much more so enjoyable for those of us throughout Middle-earth.
While the audience was of modest number today, it was to my joy that quite a few dear friends and friendly faces were among the crowd for a time; some must have left early for other errands, and quite a few were still around upon the conclusion of the event. I was given notice that themed concerts by The White Flames, open to the public, will possibly start to occur once every Month, likely on a 'Sunday' each time so the gossip goes -- and already me ol' boots tap in anticipation!
Well done! Very, very well done!

P.S.
I have passed by some rumours mentioning that back in Bree-land on the 'morrow the Red Company Band will be performing in front of the Prancing Pony with food, drink, and gold (as a reward for those whom partake in their planned quiz activity!) as part of the celebrations for the one-year anniversary of The Red Company kinship. There were no posters advertising this on the event listings or notice boards around town, but there was a canceled 'The Red Company Band plays!' early on when this Month began -- so perhaps this is a rekindled opportunity on their end, I hope perhaps my travels from Ered Luin here back to Bree-land won't take too long!
During a previous occasion, I was told (and thus took to mention in my early report relating to the event) by Master Ponso, Club President of the Shire Angling Club, that on the Fifth of next Month is to be when Hobbits in the Shire will gather for a Salmon Run, although I haven't yet been able to find an article or details of it in the Bramblebury Gazette just yet. If this ol' Bree Captain's memory is correct however, it must be the same 'Annual Brandywine Salmon Run' that I remember having the lucky privilege to attend last year.
[Scribe's Addendum: We have just received the latest publication of the Bramblebury Gazette here at the Archives, and by request of the author of this report, have crossed out the portion above to reflect the confirmed news of the Third Annual Brandywine Salmon Run event occurring on the Fifth of next Month. Hobbits will want to certainly keep the date open to attend we imagine!]
Overview Collection
(( Disclaimer: Hello folks, I'd like to caution you that taking a look at the embedded slideshows coming up below will likely not go too well if your in a hurry, and hoping to just get a 'general gander' at what the event was like. The 'Overview Collection' above is more suited for that!
Viewing the albums embedded below is more geared for those folks looking to get a /slightly/ more play-by-play spirit of how things unfolded. In fact, I only recommend having a browse through if for some reason, you have an urge to well... just look at a lot and lot of screenshots -- many of the shot angles/perspectives being repeated in other screenshots but at different times during the event, etc -- Even more so than seen in the 'Overview Collection' this time around! Thanks for reading. ))
