Captain's Quick Report: February OAKS.....This time the talent is home grown!
It appears urgent business suddenly appears and takes up much of my time these days, for along the roads from Bree-land to the Shire village of Oldfurlong did yet another important circumstance require my attention. Much of the musical performance by the time I arrived into Oldfurlong for the wonderful musical talents of The Aleford Band was already at the half-mark by my reckoning -- and then the rest of the time the thoughts and worries from my earlier business of note continued to distract me from the music, I'm afraid!
So for the most part it is with great regret that my attendance to this event just a few hours ago was quite a distracted one; with so many wandering thoughts about other recent matters at hand -- there was not much of the music or concert itself that I can truly speak or summarize about as I usually do in these quick reports.
By chance, I did manage to absentmindedly make a few rough sketchings from my distracted position near the back of the audience -- and mostly more numerous towards the end as the music drew to a close and folks began to depart and say farewells to another. Though I regret not having been able to listen fully to the songs and enjoy the music by the lovely Aleford Band at this month's OAKS -- it did appear a very happy crowd with a very large and varied gathering from among the Free Peoples as always. A fine measure of quality to judge by, at least in this ol' Bree Captain's books -- combined of course with the happy smiles and cheerful farewells, and congratulations that seemed to be all about towards the end -- one cannot go too wrong with such evidence as that to summarize that the band was most excellent and the event a great success today!
Already with some luck, my eyes spotted one of the artists whom has become a familiar face that I associate with Master Zedrock's many allies whom put out some most excellent moving drawings of many fine musical performances and grand events that they visit throughout the lands of Middle-earth. In fact, from a most reliable source -- I've been informed that already some early moving drawings of today's lovely Aleford Band have been published freely and available for viewing by the public! My rough sketches frankly do little justice compared to these very fantastic drawings they make -- one simple look and their work somehow brings to your mind an outstanding experience of almost being able to listen to the very songs and instruments played, and live again through an entire concert and audience with fond memory as if you were there!
Given how my thoughts this time around were most distracting that I was not able to enjoy much of the Aleford Band's music as I would have liked, it's on a positive note that perhaps some of these 'moving drawings' from Master Zedrock's fine artistic allies will allow me to enjoy some of what I missed -- I already feel a lively jig in my feet coming upon me, hoho! Though I suppose it just won't be the same as having lived the moment in person better I suppose... Still... 'tis better than nothing! Hoho!
But it appears in the immediate future there will be very pressing business and matters to attend to; though with proper management, I believe by the time the day of the White Flames' rumoured performance to play 'Laterna Magica' music in the place known as 'Gúndalaf' is to take place, less than a week from now -- I will be more freely available to attend and make the journey by then, with any luck.
Several upcoming events listed in the Bramblebury Gazette do hint at more public gatherings for all races to look forward to for those that can travel so far, or often; the growing reputation of the regular Bird and Baby Yard Parties, often open to all distant travellers, or local Shire residents alike, makes mention of an upcoming 'Bullroar Took Special' event next Month; and then there's the planned date for the next OAKS (Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series) already speculated there in the paper. It is most excellent to have such early notice indeed of such things!
Until then, some sleep might do me good, it seems all the frequent travelling and urgent business, work, and other affairs on behalf of the Bree Captain's Guild have finally caught up to me lately... I had to quickly disappear from the crowd today before my body betrayed me hoho! Time for this ol' Bree Captain to catch up on some required rest and recovery... but a warm congratulations all the same to The Aleford Band and Miss Acorne on today's OAKS, it appeared most enjoyable for many! And that's a joy to be proud of as any, I say!

(( OOC Note/Early Warning: Life pulled me away today on some unexpected business, and when I finally returned home to the computer, an important phone call ended up rooting my attention on the conversation/call instead of being able to maneuver my character around to take better and more varied screenshots of the event like I usually attempt to do. So most of the screenshots are even more so from the same perspective as ever, without much variety in between to split the viewing up. Don't expect much to look at this time around; it's mostly images from near the end when people were leaving!
Good old Zedrock though had one of his kinnies, or his alt character, I'm not sure yet which it is -- recording the event over on their Twitch.tv channel, you can go check the video out here to see for yourself! Thank you for recording/streaming these things, it's very wonderful! ))
