Roughing up a Ranger

A dark grey sky threw cold wind that bit painfully at the dunlending who sat in his thick furs, huddled up in the small cave that he had found to spend the night in. The crackling fire radiated its warmth out in the cave, spilling its orange glow all over the grey sharp walls where spiders crawled in the dead of the night. The boom of thunder and the flash of lightning made the wildman glare out of the cave, like a bear disturbed during hibernation. The weather reminded him of something.. the time he raided Rohan, and roughed up a ranger..

Many moons ago, when the summer sun still shone brightly, the dunlending Pren took his war party consisting of hundreds of wildmen thirsty for blood across the River Isen and into the Horse-lands. While there, a battle was thought between the dunlendings and the rohirrim, named the Battle of the Entwash Vale to the rohirrim, though to the dunlendings it was just another battle fought. The more interesting thing happened on the way there..

The fast rush of yet another river made the horde halt, finding a safe enough path to cross over. Pren, sitting upon his large horse, grumbled and barked out orders to a group of men to come with him to find a suitable path, and so they went. Pren upon his horse, and the others hurring along after him across the river bank. The squelch of wet boots was all that could be heard as they scaled a slope up to a better place to watch the company cross the river.

Laughing and boasting was rich amongst the group, though Pren remained silent with his arms crossed as looking upon the group who talked infront of him, grumbling in his input on the best way to decapitate an eorling before all of a sudden a hooded figure appeared by some trees. Making his way over, as if he knew the dunlendings.. well, he knew one of them. The hooded man was a figure Pren recongised, and glared at. With a simple shoulder, he knocked one dunlending out the way as he walked over and swung a punch straight for the hooded figures face! His knuckles clipped the man across the cheek, before Pren grunted out the command; “Kill.”

The shivering dunlendings took their clubs and rushed forth, meeting this hooded figure in battle! Clubs, swords, axes swung and the fight went on. The hooded figure, known as Sigfread, was starting to tire and Pren had had enough of his incompetent men, so he walked in and landed a punch on his nose with a crunch of his knuckles on contact! Before his axe handle swung and hit him across the jaw, with an audible thwack as it went! Another closed fist met the mans chin with a grunt, sending him down onto the floor out of consciousness as Pren barked out orders once more.

A good while had passed until the hooded man regained his wits, but now he was tied to a wooden stake with his wrists and ankles tightly and awkwardly bound. The large wildman glared at him, memories coming back to him of being left to die in the woods as well as having the man cheat in fights. He stepped over, his fists clenching with the squeak of tight leather accommodating it. A fist was swung, cracking Sigfread against the jaw before another one went straight for his eye which sent the dunedains head jarring backwards against the stake.

Another fist swung, this time causing blood to appear at the corner of the bound mans lips; before hard punch after punch hit the man repeatedly like the thundering of hooves into the ground or the hundreds of footsteps all marching in unison to war.

Pren grunted out with his knuckles bleeding from all the contact made, before he swung one last final punch that knocked the man out once more. This time, Pren took it upon himself to pull the stake out the ground with the man still attached before dragging it over towards the rapid rivers edge.

"Good.. bye...Goat.”, is all Pren could mutter in his broken westron before he threw the man off the edge into the water, watching him wash down stream to where ever he ended up...

((Note: This was a while back in RP, but due to Pren's return to Dunland, he is having memories to help him remember the lands and why he hates it so much!))
