Sitting just outside the tent shaped thing, Lanthonvir were in deep thoughts, thinking back upon memories, of his mother and father, he smiled when he did. He took up his old leatherbound journal and looked at it, it was really getting old and ragged he thought for himself, perhaps a new one should be a good start to something new he thought but opened the journal and began to write.
What now follows is a old memory from Lanthonvirs earlier years.
"Lanthonvir..." the voice was sweet and soft when it tried to wake him up on e early spring morning. The voice came from Naeoronel, his mother, her soft hand gently nudging his shoulder "It's the day.." she said softly again. Lanthonvir made a large sigh and just turned around to his mothers amusment "Did you and your friends enjoy your little feast you all had? It looks like someone drank a flagon or more too much.." she said and laughed softly. He did not answer her in words but nodded "We did.." was his reply after a while as he turned back to his mother "Today.." he yawned out but got up and out of the bed, his mother smiling softly to him as she always did to her husband and son.
Once he got into the kitchen, his father Eilielladon looked at his son and gave him a soft smirk "So today is the day when my son will be draped in his well earned armour of the kings guards.." as Eilielladon then laughed softly "You're becoming more and more like me my son..a soldier and a good one too, better than what I was in your age.." he added as Lanthonvir sat down to have his breakfeast "Better than you'll ever be father..remember what my captain said.." Lanthonvir gave his respones quickly to his fathers amusement as he continued to laugh as his wife stepped into the kitchen "What are my boys talking about and laughing about?" she asked but knew the answer already, she might not admit it if Lanthonvir had asked her then but she was as proud as her husband over their son.
A quick breakfeast before a knock was heard on the door "Lan! LAN! GET OUT HERE!" a voice commanded but with a laugh in it, it was Medlissel, a elf maid that were Lanthonvirs best friend and now his captain. Lanthonvir swallowed hard "Dont be late father and you too mother.." he said, his raspy morning voice now gone as he made his way out into the hallway where he strappedon his swordbelt with his fathers old sword, a blade that had been forged before Lanthonvirs birth, when his father were young and in the army, perhaps Lanthovir have told about this before so I will not wrtie more about it for now, if not then that is a different tale to tell. So with the sword and the dark grey robes he walked out to Medlissel and followed her to the barracks to prepare for the ceremoney that where to be held later.
"You look nervous...come on Lan..loosen up.." Medlissel said as they walked to the barracks and yes, the truth is that Lanthonvir was nervous but for two reasons, Medlissel were not just his friend and captain, he had decided to ask her for her hand, her family and his family knew about this and they had all given him well whises for it so you can imagine how he felt walking alongside her there in the rising spring sun and the birds singing, knowing that in a bit he would ask her..
"You know..much to think about before the ceremoney and such you know..I dotn want to make a fool out of myself.." he replied and gave her a soft smile, to which she giggled slightly, she was fair to look at if you ask Lanthonvir if you see him sometime, he would probably describe her as beautiful as the spring sun rising, the flowers blooming so when she giggled he laughed softly, knowing that she liked him very, very much and that she had dreamt of he coming to her and asking her for her hand, little did she know that he was going to do such that very same day.
So did the time of the ceremony come, in which the new guards in the roysl king guard would have their uniforms draped on them, a sign that they had completed their hard and long training, for it was only the best of the best that got the chance to be in the royal guards. A line of ten elves stepped out on the podium, one of them Lanthonvir, in the crowd were his mother and father, his father wearing his own full uniform. Lanthonvir spotted them thanks to his fahter in his uniform and smiled inside himself, knowing his father and mother were proud.
So was it Lanthonvirs turn to have the blue and golden robe dressed on him alongside the golden breastplate, the helmet with the blue tail, the blue cloak and the golden boots with the golden leggins, a few minutes later he stood there in the armour as Medlissel called out his name and that he now was a royal guard to the audience. Now perhaps was the worst time to ask but Lanthonvir did not care and stepped out of the line "Medlissel.." he started as he took her hand which made her turn around to face him, a questioning look on her face "Y..ye..yes.." she stuttered out "You know I like you very much and that you are my best friend..the best friend I can have..and also the finest captain anyone could have wished for.." Lanthonvir said loud so that everyone could hear him "Yes, I know that Lan..ehrm..Lanthonvir.." Medlissel replied. "I've been thinking, talking and asking and I have decided to ask you this.." Lanthonvir continued, as he removed his helmet "Would you..be the one that would let me hold your hand?" he asked gently, in return she smiled and could not hold back a tear "Y..yes Lanthonvir..I'd like that one to be you..I have dreamt about it..never been tough enough to ask myself.." she said quietly to him and hugged him, as she did the crowd cheered loud and the boths family smiled to each other and could not hold back a tear as well..
