Constable Karl Tannenbloom is requesting further knowledge from anyone that knows about the murder of Watcher Nikolas Rosethorn. All records from ten years ago have been open to him.The following is from Constable Tannenbloom about what he has found.- Cyrril Marshweed, Bree Watch Clerk
'During my down time after a shift, I encountered a woman in mourning. She was drinking in memory of her father, whom I learned was a watchman ten years ago. She told me and another woman that he had been murdered in Beggar's Alley and that the killer was never caught. While I believe finding the man will be nearly impossible, I decided to try and find out who killed her father.'
'I do remember a bit of this, as I was a lad of sixteen summers when it happened in Beggar's Alley. I don't recall seeing it happen but I remember it being Alley gossip for months. I went to neighbors and friends that were willing to speak with me. Some folks here are still bitter about my work in the Watch and it was not easy.'
'Shopkeeper Mitch Redleaf had first-hand experience with the murderer. His statement follows:
"I was told to pay up for protection, or pay a different price entirely. Because I couldn't pay him, considering he lives in Beggar's Alley, the brigand in question started to beat me. I was barely scratched when Watcher Nikolas Rosethorn stepped in, though I didn't know the Watcher's name until after. When Nikolas intervened, I ran back into the shabby home and locked the doors very tightly. The next time I opened the door, the brigand in question was gone and Watcher Rosethorn was bleeding out like a stuck boar. I did try to save his life, but I'm no healer. The Watcher's last words still haunt me to this day, "My name is Nikolas Rosethorn, and I'm sorry I failed my duty."'
'The description of the murderer: Very strong, clean-shaven face, unruly mess of brown hair, shabby clothes but very clean armor and keeps a dagger on his person at all times. Went by the nickname Shadowmass', due to how dark his brown eyes were.'
'I will continue to search around for anyone that knows this man. I will also ask Miss Marrienne if she knows anyone with this description.'
