Captain's Quick Report: Yule feast at Briar Rose Cottage
To Master Hiath, Miss Briannon and their Yule Feast at Briar Rose Cottage did this ol’ Bree Captain attend, and with others from around Bree-land or farther did an excellent warm meal -- complete with old Bree-lander recipes -- a blazing hearthside fire, music, and fireworks all join together to form a splendid evening of humble cheer.
There are few words which I feel encompass proper from my hand to parchment the tidings of joy and celebration such gatherings as this invoke around the Yule time; there was a spirit perhaps more kind and welcoming then what might usually be seen of Bree-landers gathering in any decent numbers at other times during the year – there was something that kept my mind at ease; perhaps that the seeming focus of the gathering was indeed celebration as a whole of Yule, and less about an opportunity for those attending to ‘show off’ or cause toxic, dramatic feeling with one another -- such an atmosphere I have come to greatly appreciate in the lacking within Hobbit culture in general, but too often wearily witness amongst my own kin of Bree-landers and race of Man throughout the years. It was a most enjoyable setting tonight from what I've been used to in Bree-land.
At least two Hobbits, and even a Dwarf were in attendance for a time. The cold platter, and warm platter, of foods -- together with choices of wine, drink, and even tea -- was delicious to behold; finely cooked, stuffed, and presented on both tables inside the main room of the cottage. (Though one table would later play host as a musical stage and even a dancing platform!) With the Briar Rose Cottage being situated north of Thornley’s Farm -- which itself is due northwest from Bree-town -- there was a magnificent view of Everclear Lakes and the surrounding Northern Bree-fields all covered with snowfall on this evening and night.
After fireworks were launched outside the cottage, generously provided by Master Hiath and Miss Briannon respectively, there was I suspect some more games and activities to celebrate the Yule afterwards – but I took upon my leave for the night in order to organize the rough drawings from my perspective of this enjoyable occasion of Bree-land cheer, and to pen this early report for the Archives.
There is to be a Winterhome Wassailing to make preparations to attend as well on the ‘morrow, and the travel will take some time -- though no doubt will pass by in a swift blur in the moment itself. And in the fresh footsteps of the wassailing will be a return towards the Shire for the final OAKS (Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series) of this year. Come the new year itself, there are plenty more events I’m sure yet planned for the first week to consider!
To those whom gathered at the Briar Rose Cottage this night for such a fine setting of Bree-lander and Yule celebrations in the spirit of cordial cheer and atmosphere, there is none other to thank but such folk as themselves whom attended and shaped the event as it turned out to be. With another tip of the hat to Master Hiath and Miss Briannon for hosting this welcoming Yule gathering, I conclude this writing and leave you with the rough drawings, paintings, and colorings to accompany this report.

P.S.
Word has reached me of a Thank you note from the organizers of tonight's gathering -- with a hint that may be more such events to perhaps be on the lookout for, an interesting tidbit to consider!
