Captain's Quick Report: OAKS presents Thorn and Roses
To think that last month's passing saw me miss the performance of Die Bunten Voegel, at the previous OAKS concert in Oldfurlong. Though without a doubt the great tales from those whom returned from the event speaks highly of this performance I regretfully missed attending, I feel fortunate that the OAKS concert that just finished today; mere hours ago with the Thorn and Roses, was not something I had missed this time around!
For though I had been delayed by the half of the first hour from arriving due to writing letters and other business needing to be done, the music and songs that mine ears heard still gave way to merry dancing and warmly cheer. The band was perhaps not as vested in 'showmanship' as the famous Die Bunten Voegel had been, the Thorn and Roses instead brought to humble hearts a smile through the simple spirit of Hobbits (or most of the band were, at least!) putting forth fanciful tunes for their Shire friends to dance and be merry to. Many melodies full of lyrics that told stories, many of great Hobbit telling and origins, and others of a ditty that still had joyful dancing and spirit until the last note had ended, no matter how short!
If only, Master Reader, through words could I share in these early reports the brilliant warmth and cheer that these OAKS concerts, and such other events in which I attend with music amongst Hobbits, do bring to light. That cannot be captured through written documents or illustrated paintings; the spirit upon the moment as each song and note played, the lively audience and atmosphere of cheerful dance that accompanies these events and gatherings... one such as I would find it a difficult task to ever grow tired of such company! Hohoho!
Excellent work once again, to Miss Acorne, this time both organizer and performer at the Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series this month! Outstanding!

P.S.
The future weeks to come, Master Reader, are still full of interesting events to occur in our lands of Middle-earth sooner than one might think! There's the final hobbit leg of the journey to reach Enedwaith, 'The Grand Journey Home part 5: Echad Dunann to Maur Tulhau', in less than a week's time, so the rumours go, and perhaps even a day for 'village hours' afterwards so the gossip goes! Not too far after, 'The Aleford Band at the Bird and Baby Yard Party' will take place, and followed closely by the famous 'Archet Aid - 2015', an event which is resurfacing after a year's delay, and all to do with raising hope and cheer for the folk of Archet, ever still stuck it seems in rebuilding their settlement; they can use all the help they can get, and music too!
Here are several collections of drafted sketchings, early paintings and drawings of the event from my perspective, as part of this written report for the Archives. It was a wonderful Thorn and Roses concert, though I have not felt where the thorns part come in yet! It's been lovely roses the entire time! Hohoho!

(( Disclaimer: Hello folks, I'd like to caution you that taking a look at the embedded slideshows coming up below will likely not go too well if your in a hurry, and hoping to just get a 'general gander' at what the event was like. The 'Overview Collection' above is more suited for that!
Viewing the albums embedded below is more geared for those folks looking to get a /slightly/ more play-by-play spirit of how things unfolded. In fact, I only recommend having a browse through if for some reason, you have an urge to well... just look at a lot and lot of screenshots -- many of the shot angles/perspectives being repeated in other screenshots but at different times during the event, etc! Thanks for reading. ))
