For many long years, a Shadow has overtaken the Riddermark, our home. Our people struggle, our crops dwindle, our enemies encroach upon us from all directions. But if the Rohirrim are anything, we are hardy and steadfast. We will not let this be our end, and if it so is to be, then it will be an end worthy of remembrance and song! An end that our children will tell their children, for it will live on in history!
Bid by Third Marshal of the Mark and our Lord, Éomer, we are those riders who would defend the East-mark from the enemies that would destroy us. We ride now from the Wold to Eastwall and across the plains of the Norcrofts and Sutcrofts, where we shall meet our enemies head-on! Arise, and ride! Ride now to war!

Preface: The House of Grimferth and the Founding of the Éored of the East-mark
The House of Grimferth was founded by Grimferth of the Wold, kin to the Clan Eowain near the middle of the Third Age and existed for many generations. About TA 2961, under the leadership of Gúthmyr, kin to Grimferth, the Household mustered a group of one hundred riders to patrol the lands from the edge of East Emnet east to the swampy area around the Entwash and north from the Great West Road and Ered Nimrais to the Wold and the southern fringes of Fangorn Forest, defending the liberty of the Eorlingas and repelling the forces that plague and seek to take it from them.
In 2977 on March 22, the éored was ambushed after crossing the Entwash in pursuit of a few orcs by a larger force and Æhelwigend Gúthmyr was waylaid by a warg rider. Following the death of Gúthmyr, his son Gúthred took the control of the éored and for sixteen years he had sustained his father's duty with success and honor. In 2993, the Æthelwigend Gúthred had to retire from his duty due to his age. And this rank was given to an experienced mægisterwigend named Ulfthryth by the Feldmarshals and the Third Marshall of the Mark.
Upon his death, in the year of 3013, Régnwald, son of Régn, akin to House Grimferth, became the Æthelwigend of Éored of the East-mark and by the order of Aldor Harding, Reeve of the Wold, the headquarters in Feldburg was built. Currently, the éored rides in Eastern Rohan with around 100 riders, answering the call of the Eorlingas to stand firm against the threats and rising darkness.
