The Dream

in

I dream of pure white sunshine
I dream of crown-topped hills
I picture endless meadows
A land that bears no ill
But oh, alas it can't be real
Although it's true just how I feel

Imagine silver rivers
All topped with sparkling gems
And songbirds always singing
With folk all singing back at them
But oh, alas it can't be real
Yet still it's true just how I feel

My dreams take me through meadows
All bathed in deepest greens
And arcs of many rainbows
Completes this pleasant scene
But oh, alas it can't be real
Although it's true just how I feel

And there are smiling faces
Other folks are dreaming too
The homes are filled with laughter
I dream I'm laughing too
But oh, alas it can't be real
Yet still it's true just how I feel

I wake and stop my dreaming
I take a look outside
And now I'm fully woken
The scene delights my eyes
I can't believe that it is real
For yes, I start to truly feel

I see the endless sunshine
I see a crown-topped hill
I gaze at endless meadows
I'll never bear an ill
It's the Shire that I feel
And everything is real
