I'm down by the lake in Bywater
To Frogmorton I must soon go
There's no need to rush
I've no need to fuss
It's a day where it's good to be slow
It could turn out to be an adventure
A journey this fine summer day
I shall borrow a boat
And carefully float
Along the Shire's fine waterways
Accompanying me on my travels
I'm joined by some of my friends
And a hamper of treats
We've plenty to eat
We hope that this day never ends
As we drift in slow flowing water
Which sparkles like gems in the sun
We've plenty of time
To cast fishing lines
But only can catch just the one!
We pass by some swans on the river
And families of smart feathered ducks
And pass banks of tall reeds
With carpets of weeds
We almost then get ourselves stuck
We relax and start telling some stories
Of hobbits who live by the stream
And poems and songs
We all sing along
The river's a place we can dream
I can't recall why we went to Frogmorton
I've forgot with the passing of time
For with friends by your side
The point of the ride
Is the travel, not to arrive.
