Captain's Quick Report:  Grenrill Merchants Host Auction in Bree

Master Reader!  If you weren't one of the Hobbit-folk celebrating and dancing over in the Shire at a rumoured 7th Anniversary of Green Dragon Friday gathering today (and just another warmup party at that, after the first one a few days ago, in preparation for the main one still yet to come for all Halflings), then perhaps you might have been at the Auction in Bree hosted by the Merchants from Grenrill Village (and of The Northern Garrison kin).

For indeed, just a mere hour ago, within Bree-town, in the district of The Stone Quarter, merchants from Grenrill Village displayed and auctioned a fine selection of weaponry and military-grade equipment and items.  In fact, an item I have only rarely seen... a [Greater Essence of Morale] even fetched high bids well into the hundred gold coins!  What a bidding that was to see, by the fates!  I believe the competing bidders in the final moments were a Master Hobbit named Mister Kritta and woman named Miss Zerosa!

Though this occasion was a first for the Grenrill merchants in Bree-town, it was still quite a humble but successful gathering again as well -- a turnout that speaks well for future funding of the Grenrill Trading Guild's trading endeavors abroad in the lands of Middle-earth some day soon I hope!  Master Pall, Miss Brundela, Master Robrid and Master Mattharan reprised similar roles here as they did during the grand opening of the Grenrill Trading Guild, and Lady Mindriana, leader of Grenrill Village, was also present.

And then as luck would have it, Master Silon appeared again sometime around the midway, to my early surprise -- I had expected him to be far away amongst fellow Hobbits celebrating, for there has been gossip even this far in Bree-land of the supposed cooldown warmup party for the Green Dragon Friday 7th Anniversary.  He had been busy with his duties as a band member of a musical company instead, he explained, and had been unable to attend.

Among other interesting... news he shared (including felines and lasses, not necessarily in that order hoho!), we both stood near the back of the gathering to converse and watch the bidding auctions continue further up front by the merchants from Grenrill Village.  Master Silon even bid on a few items himself, a good handful, in generous consideration for his fellow halflings back in the Shire.

When all is said and done, coin and goods were exchanged after the last auction was complete, and as many folk departed their ways, a small reunion was had amongst those of us remaining; we shared news and talk of upcoming events and future possibilities of the Grenrill Trading Guild.  Particularly, it was mentioned the musical festival open to all of the Free Peoples this coming week, A Forest of OAKS!, would be taking place in the Shire, over in the Shire homestead village of Oldfurlong.  It seemed to be a possible conflict with the continuation of auction events in Bree the merchants from Grenrill Village planned, but they warmly welcomed the news and even posed some interesting questions on whether Miss-Hobbit Acorne Oakley, the main organizer of the OAKS musical events, might be interested in also having the Grenrill merchants host their auction there, with perhaps some emphasis on cooking and foodstuffs instead!  Master Silon and myself could not speak directly to the matter on behalf of Miss Acorne of course, and we both encouraged the folk from Grenrill to contact her directly by letter, and see how things might unfold from there.

Well that is quite enough for this Quick Report!  Though it was not that long of an occasion, this auction in Bree-town today by the merchants of Grenrill Village (and The Northern Garrison) certainly warrants a more full written report in the future, when circumstances are appropriate, and for now I shall end this early submission for the archives of The Grey Repository with the handful of sketches I can share from my memories of this event!
