An In Character chronological fictional account of the travels of Khalis and Elisbeth. (the few pages are from past pre Warband events)
It was a bright morning in Bree when they awoke, already the sounds of the hustle and bustle of the daily goings on of the town could begin to be heard. Khalis doned his linen trews and shirt deciding to forgo his cuiboilli armour for now and headed out of his room in the Prancing Pony. He found Elis for that is the name he had come to use when speaking to her in the main hall. She was sat at a bench by the window using the early rays of the sun to help her read her notes. Her eyes never seemed to leave the pages as she scooped porridge into her mouth. Khalis noted the room was empty but the smells of the merrymaking from the previous night were still evident in the room, he would be glad when they were on the road upon their task for Glorfindel.
Khalis knew better than to disturb Elis whilst she had her head buried in her notes so he ordered some fruit and bread and sat close by. She gave all the signs of being totally unaware of her surroundings but Khalis knew better, he knew there was much about her he still did not know or understand. As he ate his mind wandered back to his last night in Rivendell before Glorfindel had asked to speak with him. Khalis had found Glorfindel outside the House of Elrond overlooking the falls as he had approached Glorfindel seemed distant but as he drew nearer Glorfindels' face erupted in a smile. They exchanged in general talk about how well the Elders had seen him and his companion develop in their years since leaving Rivendell, and even briefly hinted that the Council of Lord Elrond had recieved word from the Queen detailing the work the pair had done for them. Then his face seemed to cloud over and he began to speak of a shadow that was coming, that now it was time to return to the West and take up a task for the Council of Rivendell. They talked for many hours, and indeed by the time Khalis left the company of Glorfindel even his own spirit felt heavy........
There was the clatter of dishes breaking and the sound of a female voice from the kitchen that jarred Khalis back to this moment. Looking about he saw Elisbeth staring at him obviously smiling to herself that she had caught him off guard. For Khalis was proud of his attention to detail and the fact he was always ready as he would say. They both exchanged glances that to the casual observer would not even be noticed but to them it spoke many words. They both headed to their seperate rooms and gathered up their belongings. Within the hour they were both clad in their travelling robes and armour, had collected their horses and had headed out of town down the south road.
The road out of Bree and its surrounds was covered at a fair pace as their Elfin steeds flashed past the local farms and homesteads. By nightfall they had arrived at the Forsaken Inn and it seemed as busy as usual. Khalis suggested they make camp west of the inn instead of staying in the smokey abode, and Elis seemed to offer no objections as long as she got the more padded of the two bedrolls!
With the first rays of the morning sun they had their camp packed away and Khalis had removed all signs of their encampment. Elis could see Khalis had seemed unsettled as they had drew closer to the Lone Lands but he would not speak of it as they had travelled. They decided to take breakfast in the inn to save them time and their own rations.
The inn was relatively quiet except for a few locals, and Khalis spent some time talking quietly with a few as he left Elis eating her porridge again reading her notes! It seemed there had been a fair few armoured men and women passing through in twos and threes the last few days. Once Khalis had seen Elis had finished off her porridge he moved to her table and went over what he been told by a few of the locals. They both agreed that these adventurers could be helpful with respect to the task that was upon them.

The pair knew their next stop would be Ost Guruth deep in the heart of the Lone-Lands, they also suspected they would be finding use for their skills over the next few days for the Lone lands were a most unfriendly place. Forgoing speed in favour of passing unnoticed the pair travelled off the main highway which traversed the lands East to West. They passed by Mithrenost home to some most unfriendly Dwarvenkind the Dourhands and headed ever eastward. As they passed over the hills they looked down upon Ost Cyrn. Khalis recalled the words of his martial tutor in Rivendell.
"Ost Cyrn had once stood vigil against the Hillmen of Rhudaur and the Angmarim of the North. Now Orcs use the ruined fortress to lay siege to the barren Lone-lands"
Khalis' eyes then caught swift movement towards the eastern side of the ruins, and the sound of ringing metal quickly followed. Someone was doing battle down there alone ! Leaning down over the shoulder of his horse he briefly whispered two words into his ear.
"Arauca Horta"
With that the steed's ears folded back and Khalis was propelled down the hill as swift as an arrow directly to the source of his concern. He did not need to look behind him to see the scolding look upon the face of Elis, for he knew she held the way he sometimes dashed into things as a weakness of his. Little did he know her true reasons, her real reason for travelling with him.
Khalis quickly arrived at the skirmish thanks to the speed of his Elfin Steed and joined in the conflict. Khalis turned to engage the last Orc to offer any resistence when a jet of mage fire ripped through its torso. It crumpled to the floor, its huge ugly sword falling from its grasp. The two companions then turned to regard their new companion. A woman of youth clad in well worn armour, her white short hair was worn loose and in her hands she carried her weapon of choice and a small shield. She went by the name of Parsleywine and travelled with two companions who were east from her. She explained she had been caught unawares by the Orcs which now inhabited these ruins.
Kkalis and Elisbeth together with their new companion Parsleywine headed towards Ost Guruth to meet up the warrior maidens two companions. As they drew closer the sheer size of the walled fortress was revealed and again the words of Khalis' instrutors came to him.
"Ost Guruth served as a stronghold of the North Kingdom in the days of the Witch-realm of Angmar. Now it serves as the temporary home of the Forsaken, the Ruin-hold of the Eglain."
Once safe inside its walls the three quickly met up with Parsleywine's companions who surprisingly were two Dwarves. The leader of the two was named Thurgum and hailed from the Mithril Guard a martial order known to Rivendell and who were well respected. Over a beer for with dwarves there was always beer involved Thurgum outlined the details of their mission to Nan Dhelu. Khalis and Elis went over some of the finer details with them which they remembered from their own travels there. It had never sat well with them this part of the Lone Lands, the stench of the blood red pools and the rotting dead meant they only travelled there when they truely needed to. But never the less the pair agreed to help this intrepid trio with their mission. So after another beer or two being consumed by the two dwarves they were ready to go.
The mission to Nan Dhelu went well but not many notes were made in the pages of the Saga of Khalis and Elisbeth. Just some illustrated images of the fellowship are to be found on its next few pages and the mention of two men who joined then. A man called Donorn an Archer from the Unfinished Tales and a man who walked in shadow who went by the name of Grim.

After departing from their new found friends who they left in Ost Guruth the pair headed back westward a little. They knew they had letters to take back to Rivendell but the intrepid trio had also passed on some news which concerned the pair regarding the area that is known as Amon Sûl, "Hill of Wind" or in the man tongue WeatherTop. It was a major fortress of the kingdom of Arthedain, home to one of the seven palantÃri, and the site of several battles as history tells us.
With the falling and rising of one cycle of the sun Khalis and Elisbeth were upon the low hills looking up at the historic sight.
It was whilst the pair were once again on the road to Rivendell that they received word that a fellow Blade, a Champion Warrior was in aid in the depths of Moria. So they headed with all haste to Rivendell and then onward to Eregion.
The journey to Eregion and then Moria is undocumented but the saga tells of a series of terrible battles down in the very depths of Moria. A place many call the WaterWorks. The trio fought a series of battles to and fro to eventually come upon a dark crystal sphere which Nerglaw had to destroy. But as the pair watched Nerglaw destroy the sphere a mighty and foul creature stirred in the distant chamber. . .
The next page is water damaged, the words lost to time. But a sketch of the Champion Nergalw destroying the Dark Crystal is still evident
The trio must have made their escape from this most deadly of creatures for both Elisbeth and Khalis were once more travelling the lands under welcoming warmth of the sun when again they rode to the aid of fellow Blades. This time it was another duo known as Theross and Ionside, two of the more recent additions to the Company of the Silver Blades.
Theross and Ionhide needed help in exploring the ruins known as Minas Eriol.
"Minas Eriol was once a majestic city of Cardolan, but it has long since fallen to ruin, and is now inhabited by servants of the Enemy - wargs, goblins, and vicious spiders."
The pair now with the skills and experience of Elisbeth and Khalis made their way into the ruins seeking out the various treasures they had been asked to seek. They soon found in the lower ruins the large spiders, the Moor Webs. It was noted in the Saga Elisbeths words of courage unto her companions as the spiders rushed to attack.
"Our fellowship shall not fall this day"
