Eälóthë's Journal - Fëa Alquarámë

Forty years after, on the day of my birth, my father gifted me with the means to build my own vessel . I had completed my apprenticeship in ship-building and seafaring in Alqualondë, and as a gift  I was given the means to design and build my very own ship which I named Fëa Alquarámë, Spirit of the Swanwing.

Now I was happy, for I was at sea. To me to weigh anchor and sail was a source on great joy, my spirit was up at the prospect of obtaining the dream I had dreamed since my first dawn of reason. My ship became my home, my world, my everything. I would not sail far, not at least for now. The prospect of anguishing my mother and worrying my father did weight heavily against my great desire to sail into the unknown.

From then on and for many years, I would live on Fëa Alquarámë, sail her along the coast and as far as Tol Eressëa and The Enchanted Islands, but I would also maintain my regular trade at the ship-yard, working with my father. Along the way I would meet many mariners, some of whom would consider life at sea  like a woe.

For some of them, life as sea was against their inclination and interest. I was surprised to see so few, that like myself, had chosen this life for the love of the sea and hunger for exploration and adventures. Some had been forced into it by family traditions or circumstances, many wished they could live on land.
