Chronicle Summary

Seble cannot write and she doesn't know how to read.  Her entire life is portrayed by images and drawings in this one, makeshift journal that she was barely able to afford.

Chronicle Content

When Seble was younger, her mother took her to the market, only giving her a single silver pieces.  Although her mother expected the young girl to buy a dress, she instead purchased an old journal made by an old, poor man.  The journal, originally costing two silver coins, was given to her for a single silver coin instead.  However, when young Seble returned home with her new found treasure, her father mocked her, leading her to hiding her shamed journal until one day when she ran away,

Now Seble fills the journal with drawings.  Many write thoughts and opinions into their journals, but Seble cannot do this, so she puts her own drawings into the journal to portray her feelings.
