Nolanaro was still on the balcony and for all appearance admiring the view of the stream and waterfall. His mind however wasn't really on the beautiful landscape but still dwelling on his meeting with the lord of the order of the Fountain, Vorongwë.
The elf was surprising in more ways than one :
-First of all he knew him, or rather knew of him. Although Nolanaro was of Vanimar and knew a lot of members from view or by reputation, he was the first to admit it was unlikely that many people knew him.
After all, half of his time was passed in the library of the Last Homely House and the other half of his time was spent in the wild of the Trollshaws. Admittedly, it was not the most sociable behavior ever.
And yet, the lord seemed to know who he was (why else ask him to join the order of the Fountain ? not the doubtful pleasure of his ever wandering company, Nolanaro was sure) and where to find him (Nolanaro was at a loss to explain otherwise why a lord obviously busy and carrying an unhealthy stack of papers would just go to that balcony. Besides, lord Vorongwë said he was looking for him so...)
-And second, after learning that Nolanaro spent much of his time in the library, the lord showed an incredible trust in him by bringing him a book that survived, hardly but still, the fall of Gondolin. And more, by lending it to him.
That book, considering its age and history, was a true treasure and, if the lord's reaction to it was any indication, it was also very dear to him... and very much in danger of falling to dust.
In thanks to the lord of the Fountain, Nolanaro offered to copy the book. He was not usually working as a scribe but for once he was very much willing to make this effort.
That would be his first contribution to the order of the Fountain for, as much as Nolanaro liked to belong to Vanimar and still be as independent as possible, lord Vorongwë presented his order well.
"Knowledge is far more deadly to the enemy than the blade of a sword." "Effort is always appreciated. I will not begrudge anyone their contribution."
If the lord really thought so then he was wise.
"Besides", reflected Nolanaro while, back at the library, setting up a work space to begin to copy the book, "what harm can it do to join the order of the Fountain ?"
