Eniredir's Thoughts - Entry 6 - Master Gildor

After about half an hour, two elves came to meet Eníredir outside the walls of the settlement. They claimed that Master Gildor called upon him, to hear his motives there. Eníredir followed them, but for his surprise they did not take him inside the walls, but to a small ruin outside them. They halted a few meters from it, and ordered him to continue towards the ruin. Entering it, he saw an elf standing there, looking towards the plains that crossed the North Downs. He turned as soon as Eníredir entered, and for once he understood why this was the person in charge. Even wiser than the others he seemed, all clad in a bright blue robe, and a golden smile crossed his face. Eníredir immediately bowed, and the elf bowed back with his head.

"Mae govannen, Eníredir." - said Gildor - "I hear you request Meluinen as a place for your rest. I see you're wounded." - he said, as he pointed towards the bandage Eníredir had across his head, covering his left eye. Eníredir replied, still bowing, that this was correct.

"What is your true purpose here, my fair Man? I can see you are not a simple traveler, and if you indeed come from Dol Amroth, it is rare chance that brings such a man here, on of which folk has the Eldar blood running across their veins." The man felt blessed as these words were proffered, but yet he looked down and did not reply, mildly shaking his head.

Gildor looked down a the man, and his smile did not fade. "Worry not, friendly Man. For I know you are of a proud and noble folk, and I understand the reason for you not to share your true purpose. Yet, I shall not let you go without rest and proper healing. You are from this day on free to walk across the settlement of Meluinen, and speak with its folk." And so the elves came again to take him inside.

Eníredir felt overwhelmed, entering a place like he had never entered before. It was not the fair building of the walls, nor the green plantation that contrasted with the rest of the lands, but with the fair folk of the Eldar who lived their lives in that place. He was taken right away to an healer, who gave him tidings of their own, and shared their troubles with him.

The man rested there for about two hours, speaking with the folk of the Eldar that lived in that settlement, and learning a lot of their costumes. It was not until he saw himself alone that a hooded figure approached him. "The Dawn has finally come to Meluinen." The figure said, and not even a word more was proffered in that encounter. The man extended his right hand, where he holded a letter with a small inscription, where Eníredir read "The Bloody Dawn." He accepted the letter and gave the man his own that was ordered for him to take, and the man swiftly disappeared along the crowd. Eníredir was a bit suspicious at this, but the figure fitted the description that was given to him.

The time was coming for him to return.
