We rose at first light and began preparations to move. Staying too long in one location here is dangerous, as we soon found out when wargs surrounded our camp. They outnumbered us, snarling and growling as they circled us. As I have said before I am glad that my companions are so capable in battle and that they remembered their training and formed a circle to protect from all angles of attack. The ensuing battle was fast and confusing with enemies coming from all sides. Thanks to the abilities and awareness of my comrades we killed most of the pack and the remnants retreated back into the mountains. No serious injuries were sustained and the horses were still tethered so we were able to leave shortly after the battle's conclusion.
Since we nearly lost the horses yesterday we have been leading them on foot, this is also largely due to the treacherous terrain covered by thick snow. After a long cross country hike we came upon a path through the mountains that lead us east before ending abruptly. However after another short stretch cross country we came to another pathway, this one heading southward. By this point I do not know where we are and must rely on the map Fiontann carries with him and the knowledge of my companions.
Before continuing down this path Fiontann sent out scouts in all directions to look for a place to camp, we were losing daylight. Taala and myself were tasked with hunting for our supper, a task we more than succeeded in. Taala tracked down a large aurochs and using rope as a tripwire we were able to slay the beast and drag it (with the help of horses) back to the path where the others were waiting.
We are now in camp and feasting on steaks fit for Theoden himself. Again we will need a watch and a good supply of fuel for the fire if we are to survive the night. I can not begin to guess what tomorrow will bring.
