In the night assailants came to Beaconwatch while the men were on unawares. Battle, fire, and the whistling of arrows set the air of alarm and soldiers went here and there to defend their home. Through the valiant efforts of the men the Orcs were beset, but not without loss, for there was great sadness from all those who had died.
Hemlef, son of Hemmel
Hemlef was a guardsman in the service of the Thane who with a content life, he was wed to a beautiful woman who was with-child.
He was posted at that gate that night, and was the first slain; pierced through the heart by an orcish arrow.
Erafram, son of Eafram.
Eafram was a proud man, though aged. He was a stout warrior with many children who lived to see the next day, save for Earafram.
He fell while directing and protecting the townsfolk towards the Mead hall where they may find shelter, should all their defenses fall and the Mead hall stand last. Many foes fell to Erafram's sword.
Earafram, son of Erafram
Earafram was a guardsman. He was a careless kind, and often suffered consequences to his lack of care. He was betrothed to be wed.
He fought valiantly to defend Beaconwatch and stood upon shield-wall and slew many foes at the bridge. He was caught on unawares by an orcish arrow and fell amidst the dead and blood that covered the bridge.
Erling
Erling was a farmer who came to live in Beaconwatch many years before the attack. He did not speak much with the folk there, but kept mostly to his own family. He had little trust in others and had a strong will to protect his wife, son and daughter. He dreamt of days where there would be no war, and that no man would need risk the life of his children for them.
He died with a fallen man's sword in his hand. He barred the way between an Orc and his children who were cornered, though his skill in sword-play was poor. In that hour Heoling, his eldest son who was seventeen to up the sword and slew the assailing orc. Erling slew few foes that night.
Ashred and Ashwin, the sons of Ash
They were two farm-boys who lived with their mother in Beaconwatch. They were of a merry kind and love one another very much. Their father, Ash, rides with the Third Marshall.
They both died together to the spear of a mighty Orc, valiantly they saved the life a woman who was an outsider. She lived to see the dawn, however they did not. They slew many foes together that night.
Uth, son of Uthen
He was an elderly man who's children were scattered throughout the Riddermark. He knows little of what became of most of them, and he has not seen any of them in those days. However, he was not overly frail and could fight, strongly.
He joined the dead upon the bridge, he fought in the shield-wall and was pierced by an arrow whilst on unawares.
Wulfwick, son of Wulf
A guardsman who was a poor warrior.
Mauled by a warg after slaying few enemies.
Régn, son of Aegnbold
The father of Regnwald. He, among other men stood against many threats that sought to assail to Beaconwatch in those days days.
Régn slew many foes, he stood at the shield-wall where many more fell before him. Through the efforts of many stout-folk the bridge was successfully held and the men hurried towards the defense of the Mead hall. There the remaining orcs were gathered amidst their leader who was a great Orc. Battle came swift and Régn was waylaid by the Orc's great warg when sought to assail the Orc. His sword cut the Warg twice, and blinded the beast in one eye ere Régn was slain by it.
Eostre
A young mother and a wife.
She successfully slew an Orc by dealing a critical blow to the back of its skull with a frying pan. She gave her life to defend her child who ran to the Mead hall as swift as his feet could carry him with an Orc in pursuit. The Orc was slain by an outsider and her son taken to safety.
