Memories of the past - City of the elves

The small, dark haired child ran along with the elven children that played in the grass. The group laughed and giggled as the sun shone down on the field of grass, making the all but one of the children's hair seemingly shine in the brilliant light.

A few adults stood by, watching the children closely as they played, though there was a set of keen eyes that watched one in particular. He was dark haired, and tall for his age, it was clear he was human, a descendant from the west.

The elven lady stood and watched, her soft blue eyes and her gentle smile graced her lips. The pale blue dress trailing behind her as she walked across the soft stone pathway. She knelt down as he looked up to her with eyes that seemed of both the vast sea, and its endless fog.

"Tell me young man,  what is your name?"

She smiled as she looked to him and awaited his answer. The child looked to her with a beaming smile.

"My name is Cynraede, what is your's?"

The woman softly smiled and brushed his long hair from his face, looking into his eyes. She saw innocence, fragility and love. His eyes held a pain to them, she could tell this little child had gone through much suffering, she knew his path had only just begun.

"It is truly wonderful to meet you, tell me, what are you playing?"

The little boy smiled as he showed her his toy boy and pointed to the forest.

"I'm protecting my friends from the bad things, just like my father did. I'm a hunter!"

The elf looked at him for but a moment and nodded softly.

"That you are my child, that you are."
