This is an account of my, Lengdiel's move from Rohan to Bree-land.
During the Third age, in West-March Thane Hrodebert nad his wife Ellisaid had five children, where the fifth was adopted by Hrodebert's friend, the Thane of Harwick. So the family had four children to raise, three boys where the oldest one was named Collaf and a daughter, thats me.. was given the name Lengdiel, but I was quickly called Leg for short by father.
Life as a daughter to a Thane..I must say that it was not always a dance on roses for my father had strict directives on how to rasie me...but I knew my father wanted the best for me. When I was around thirteen or fourteen years old, my father started to take me with him to the barracks and the training grounds that laid just a small ride away from our Meadhall. I was thought the was of a sword and a small shield by some of fathers best soldiers and the look on thier faces when I, Lengdiel one day as a seventeen year old girl came with my father to the training grounds. have never seen so many men been so keen on asking my father for my hand. Father chose his best and finest soldier and I was happy over the choice but then....not two days later my life would be smashed into pieces....
It was early morning..the day that the wedding was about to take place....our town guard sounded the alarm...Dunlendings were on the march against us..father quickly called me and my three brothers to him, my brothers were captain of fathers soldiers. He then told us what to do and he looked at me and said "Leng, my dear I need you to be here in the MEadhall, taking care of the wounded when they start coming in." I gave my father a nod to let him know I knew what to do. And then my father and three brothers went out and I stayed. Father was right, wounded started to come into the Meadhall not 5 minutes after he left. I did what i could, cleaning wounds, stiching them back together, comforting the wounded soldiers....to my fear i found my fiance in the Meadhall, weak and pale from bloodloss from the wound he had taken to his ribs.
I kneeled down at his side, he laid his hand on mine and spoke with a faint voice "I love you Lengdiel...I love you with all my heart and i know that this was the day when you and I was to become married.." He then got silient for a bit, coughing from the strain that talking gave him. I looked at him, grabbed his hand and spoke back to him "Dear...it will be alright, I will heal you back to health...dont go to a place where I can not join you." HE gave me a smile upon those words, then he was gone. I let some tears escape then I looked towards the doors, anger began to rise inside me. I took up his sword and my shield and went outside. I fought my way towards my father, only to see him get struck down by a Dunlending. I ran as fast as I could to my father but it was to late already, he said "Find Collaf...he is Thane now." and then my father was gone as well.
I ran off to find my brother Collaf and when i found him i told him that he was the Thane now. He nodded once and then told me to get back to the Meadhall. I did as he told me to do but along the way to the Meadhall... three big Dunlending men came towards me, they grabbed me by my hair and dragged me with them to a different location...a pile of haybales to be precise.. they started to tear my clothes off me, they cold see on me that I was the Thane's daughter.. now a prize for them in their raid...a loot if you want to call it that. I tried to fend them off me but they were to strong so I screamed and screamed when one of them was about to take me by force, I closed my eyes and prepared for it when I heard hoves from horses.. my brothers came and I could hear swords clasing together and a bowstring sining its deadly song. I was safe for now... Collaf then talked to me and said "Leng..my sister, you are not safe here in West-March longer, runaway and live a free life and enjoy the good of that or stay and become a slave to them."
I nodded towards him with eyes full of tears and then i got back up on my feet and we ran to the Meadhall where we found fathers old armour so I dressed myself in that and sat up on my horse, looking on my brothers and said "Bree-land is where you will find me." For fahter had spoken of Bree-land as a place where the free people lived. I sat out on my journey, stopping every now and then to draw some pictures of the landscape I passed.
I reached Bree-land after three years...yes I stopped many times and for a long times. And its in Bree-land I now live as a free woman with my greatest love Benjarmin at his house and we are getting married and I am expecting our first child as well so you can say that life found a way out for me....
Lengdiel...
