A late night correspondence

Naima was busy sweeping the doorstep when she spotted a very young Hobbit clamber over the garden wall from the lane and come running up the garden path.

“Good Evening Miss” said Naima

The young Hobbit did not say anything

“Can I help you?” asked Naima

Again the Hobbit said nothing but smiled and held out an envelope.

Naima looked down and took the envelope.

“Thank….” Naima started to say but the Hobbit was already down the garden path and jumping over the wall into the lane.

“How odd” said a mystified Naima and she tucked the envelope into the pocket of her apron and went indoors.

Opening the envelope Naima found a short letter written in odd spidery handwriting.

Dear Miss Longfurrow

We are a small group of Hobbits living in the village of Ewall in Breeland. We have recently acquired a property in which we intend to set up a small Inn for the Hobbits of Ewall and any other that happen to pass through. We have already stocked the Inn with supplies from the Shire but we are in urgent need of an experienced Inn Keeper and we hoped that you would do us the honor of taking up the position.

The Inn is small with just two parlors but the cellar is well proportioned and equally well stocked. Accomodation will also be provided and any staff you require will be provided.

If you are interested please come to No 3 Chestnut Street at your earliest convenience.

Yours Sincerly

The Hobbits of Ewall
