Its been a busy few days, Briannon asked me to come along on a trip with her company to the Midgewater Marshes, they were searching for some sort of ancient altar there, don't ask me why. I wasn't going to pass on an invitation from Briannon though so i took up on her offer and we met up with the rest of the group who'd be coming along just outside of the ruined fort in the ruins.
The trip was being led by her cousin Fairen, who greeted us warmly when we arrived, the resemblance between her and Briannon was obvious, you would think they were sisters. Another who i assumed was from their company was Benjarmin, a real joker, not a moment could go by without him jesting about the things myself and Briannon might get up to, I suspect we'll get along well. There were some others not from their company who had come along, from what i could gather a couple were ranger types, and some others were Mercenaries, I can't remember their names, would be embarrassing if i met them again.
We found the altar easily enough, that wasn't the difficult part, when we approached we found it occupied by six large spiders, before we had decided on a plan to deal with them Briannon had already ended one with a well placed arrow. The rest of us broke off to tackle our individual foes, I don't know how the others dealt with what attacked them as i was quickly engaged by a particularly large spider, it barely escaped me crushing it into the dirt with my foot, scuttling out of the way. Only getting one of its legs trapped under my foot, it quickly managed to pull itself free and pounce on me, knocking me to the floor. I struggled with it for what seemed like forever, none of us gaining any ground, until i tried to reach for my dagger, it managed to free itself for long enough to sink its fangs into me, weakening me with its venom.
It was at this point that the spider was thrown from me, slain with a well Aimed bolt from Benjarmin, it was likely that the spider could have finished me off in my weakened state, i owe that man my life.
The rest is just a blur, I was told afterwards that i had passed out from the spider venom, and that Fairen was also bitten during the fight, although thanks to the efforts of our companions and Fairen packing enough antidotes before the trip we had pulled through.
I wonder if all of their trips are so exciting?
