Children's tales.

"Father, tell us a story!" So Wunjo's children said as they were laid upon their hay beds and a soft fur was pulled over them by him. Immediately he fell down and propped his bearded head on top of his arms as he looked from his first son to the second and after that his daughter. "A story? Which story?", he mumbled. It had been a long day in the field and while his heart was with it, his body now ached pleasurably with the days exertions a tiredness slipped onto him. "About uncle!", Fridleif said, immediately flexing his arms with a "Grrrr.." The other siblings laughed at the eldest's manners as they always did. "I want a tale of... hmm hm.. of dragons and wargs and and.. big eagles!!", Woede piped up!  Wunjo slid his mouth behind his arms now , his eyes overly active and he tilted his head towards his daughter Svafa was her name, "How about.. when YOU were a child still father?", she asked and pulling on Wunjo's beard to braid it as she took a liking too while he raised himself a little. "A story about me and Uruz when we were younger hrm?" The boys got quiet and nodded their agreement with wide smiles, trying to slip from beneath the fur a bit.

--

"You think this is smart little brother?", Uruz asked as he hopped from a rock. Wunjo gave him a mischievous smile and rubbed his hands. "Afraid perhaps?!!" Both siblings nimbly ran amongst the enormous trees of Mirkwood. The village's outline wasn't even to be seen anymore, they had gotten quite far. "Ye-No!", Uruz grumbled as he followed in Wunjo's footsteps, "They are just saying that there has been wolves on the borders again and I do not like to be eaten by one." The youngest of the two flung an arm around, "Aaaahh.. just child's stories to keep the others in the village, it's the elves that are real! Let us go see the elves first and then we will go back, yes?" Uruz his eyes suspiciously kept looking left and right, not trusting the surroundings much. After all, this far they had never truly dared to venture and surely for good reason!

A sound of a branch snapping echoed from nearby.

"Sshh!", Wunjo laid a finger on his lips. Instantly both of them got quiet and Uruz looked around. Heads of both turning this way and that, seeing nothing. Their chins rubbed over the moss growing on some gnarled old oak, some bits of green remained sticking against their cheecks, they kept on crawling as they had learned. Soundless and head low. Their ears perked up and then they were rewarded with a bird flying off out of the roof of big leaves on top, dropping it's digested meal straight on Uruz face... Wunjo laughed himself silly, rolling on his back left and right, tears spilling over his smooth cheecks! Meanwhile the big brother wiped at it, making a large smear over his face and hands, with one closed eye he grumbled a little at Wunjo and flung a branch at him. "Oi!", it sounded and Wunjo rubbed his head, instantly sobered. "Do not laugh at me!", Uruz yelled and before he quite managed to begin wiping at his face again Wunjo had launched himself upon his bigger brother. They wrestled and began rolling down a small slope, relentlessly they punched, kicked while their heads butted one another. Halfway they laughed, not being able to help themselves, then eventually Uruz put Wunjo flat on his back again before pulling him up. "Stupid.", Uruz said with a grin. Wunjo would have answered had the sound of strings being tickled not interrupted them..

"Hrm?", came from Wunjo's throat as he blinked and swiftly took cover behind his brother, pushing him onwards, "Come let's go look at what it was!" The biggest didn't like it too much, but cautiously he kept going forward, step by step. Uruz groaned in his mind, time and again his brother had brought him into trouble and now he was going to get into the biggest he had likely ever known, something in the back of his head suggested that a curious peek should be tried atleast. Yes, his little brother may be a troublemaker, but he was often right and this would likely be a story worth to tell if they survived their father's thrashing. He threw himself flat and pulled his little brother with him, taking over command.. they crawled and crawled until the sound was clear and pleasant in their ears. Their eyes widened and before them they could see a great elvish feast. Tall beautifull figures dressed in whites and the forests' colours were sitting on the stumps of cut down trees, tables laden with food and what must be gilded pitchers of wine were plenty amongst these and quite a few of them had been drinking, for they were singing and merry. A few even stumbled as if drunk.. no doubt they were.

Uruz frowned.. Wunjo grinned.. "Let us try to steal something from them."
