Letter #2 - I Wish Someone Had Told Me!

Dearest Mum,

I was very surprised to get your last letter to say the least! And I hope that you are not reading this particular letter to the cousins or I shall never hear the end of it from Lettice and Marigold (or Bert for that matter).

I honestly did not know that Ambrose would be taking my leaving so hard, but I am actually a bit angry   irritated that he did not say something himself. You have always told me that things like this are complicated but I must say I did not imagine this.

Could you please maybe tell Ambrose's mum to have a word with his sister Calendula (who I have always been very friendly with) and maybe see if she would please tell him I'm sorry I didn't realize that he had any Intentions? But don't maybe say anything else, because the truth is I did not ever see Ambrose in that light, and I am sure it would just have been a disappointment when he finally said something, as I would have had to let him down gently.

I know Dad doesn't think it's a good idea for me to be on my own either and I'm sure he is the one who asked you to inquire if I were seeing any young fellows here, but please tell him I am not seeing anyone and I can cope very adecuat adequately on my own.

I am sure you have seen some of my pieces in the Gazette. I think this has been a wonderful way to boost business as far as the selling of pies and other baked goods goes. And will you thank Freddie for sending that shipment of the Gold-Fire post-haste, because I am sure it is going to be out of stock again very soon!

I am hoping this news reassures you and Dad that everything is really going very well and that things are Fine here in Oldfurlong.

Love,

--Rosa
