Not only was it dusk, but the snow was starting to fall again over the Breelands when Sybri passed through the gate into Bree. Her husband, Wulfthred, would not approve of her going into the town alone at night with snow falling, but in truth she wasn't really alone as evidenced by her burgeoning girth. Bri's mind was set on finding Harugrim after hearing about the incident at the ruins of the Inn. What better place to hide than in a village of Men, at least that was her thinking. He knew something about the fire that had nearly taken her beloved and that was what she intended to discover exactly what he knew, albeit quietly.
Entering the Pony, the young woman brushed the snow from her shoulders and hood. As she expected it was as raucous as ever. Stepping around the revelers, she made her way to the bar to speak with Barliman, the barkeep. Sybri had made his 'acquaintance' before when on Order business and knew he wasn't only a keeper of spirits and potables but he was a keeper of secrets and information. This information was exactly what the scout was seeking, information about a person that knew the best hiding places in Bree. The rotund fellow did not disappoint, he suggest Bri speak to a young woman named Rannie and pointed her out in the crowd.
Without hesitation, Sybri approached the young woman and asked to speak with her in private. In truth, Bri was surprised that Rannie agreed without any hesitation. The two women stepped aside into a relatively quiet, if one could call it that, spot in the Inn. Getting straight to the point, the young wife asked the brown haired girl if she would be willing to help her search the city for Harugrim. After discussing what Bri wanted from the fugitive and assured there would be no bloodshed nor violence, Rannie agreed to see if she could discover his hiding place if he was in fact hiding in Bree.
Rannie asked for nothing but an ale in return for the bargain struck. Sybri was intrigued by this young woman and hoped she could attain the information surreptitiously and quickly. It would be good to have an ally like Rannie in Bree, good for Sybri and the Order.
