Divide and Conquer, Part 2

Turning down the road again after the Men withdrew to make their preparations for travelling, Iaurmenel Alkawen, glanced to her arm and the cloth draped over it.  The grim task she had yet before her evoke a quiet sigh from deep within.  It was a short walk, the stench of blackened timbers was becoming more acrid and stale as she got closer to the ruined Inn.

Alkawen had not asked anyone to assist her with the removal of the body that remained inside the Warhorse, in fact, it seemed most had forgotten Lyfrid had been lost there.  The only one that had inquired about the dead cook was a Rohirrim woman named Ferawyn, who had made an inquiry to the caretaker, Sam Spottiswood.  The woman claimed to have been a patron at the inn and explained she wanted to be sure there was a proper burial.  With the owner of the Inn recuperating under his wife's care, the elf decided to take on the responsibility herself.

She stood there facing the Inn for a long time, stood in silence.  This was not going to be an easy task, not only because of the death, but the interior of the Inn had been gutted, even the doors were covered with debris.  Footfalls, though nearly silent and probably would be to most, alerted her attention that someone was approaching from the road behind Alkawen.  Turning, the Matriarch saw an elf male walking toward where she stood.

He introduced himself as Gwandalion.  Alkawen had been expecting him, however, it was doubtful that he expected he was about to be asked to undertake an assignment so quickly upon his arrival.  During their polite introductions, Khanadan, one of the Order's more unusual members one might say, wander toward the two elves.  Alkawen then introduced the two males to each other but it was very apparent the Gwandalion was extremely uncomfortable now that a Man had joined their conversation.

The Lady had a duty to perform and considering the obstructions in her way, she decided to ask them for help.  Not only would this make her job a little more easy, it would give her a chance to observe this elf sent to her from Mirkwood.  Both agreed, then the company of three walked to the entrance of the Warhorse.
