Journal entry 19, Songburrow Burrow Crawl

Dear Mother and Father,

Since a lot of burrows in Songburrow have new owners, the Grand Order of the Lost Mathom decided it would be nice to visit everyone who wanted to show off their burrows. So they organised a Burrow Crawl. It started out at the Grand Order's grand house, which is right next door to mine. Very handy for these sorts of things! I just had to walk across the garden and into the Grand Order's one to arrive! Lina was there with a few others and we had a quick cup of tea while waiting for everyone to arrive.

The first burrow to be visited was mine, since it was so handily close to the Grand Order's headquarters. Everyone admired the burrow though I was thankful Rua wasn't around. I don't think he would have appreciated all the hobbit feet tramping through the hallways and especially not the bouncing on the beds! But nothing got broken so I consider that a successful visit.

Then it was off to Miss Yidia's pieshop. She had a roaring great bonfire in her yard which was very nice since the first nip of autumn can be felt in the air already.

After Miss Yidia's pieshop, we went to Miss Honeypie's burrow, which was rather small, but still very cosy. The view from her garden was beautiful, you could gaze across the whole of Songburrow! I took some time to take it in properly while the rest were inside.

Miss Honeypie and a hobbit named Wil, who I have seen before but didn't know the name of, played some music while we danced before heading off to the next burrow, which belonged to Jardic's cousin, Miss Orleanda.

Miss Orleanda must love the colour orange, because she always wears an orange dress and her living room was decorated orange as well! I wonder if she deliberately colour-coordinated? The burrow itself was very neat and cosy and I couldn't help noticing the chicken coop in the yard. It would seem quite a few hobbits keep chickens. It's the best way to get fresh eggs!

When we had finished admiring Miss Orleanda's burrow, we visited that Wil fellows burrow. He and Miss Honeypie played more music while the rest of us danced again. Miss Yidia climbed up on the chimney pipe and danced there!

I do think she was the worse for drink. Most hobbits seem to have a keg holding some sort of alcoholic drink and I do believe she had been trying them all out! Luckily she didn't hurt herself and came down when we went to visit master Vedoc's burrow, which is right next door to mine!

It's just a small burrow, but very well kept. Vedoc does have a rather large dog however, which I wasn't too keen on, so I stayed out if its way. It seemed friendly enough mind you, but best to be safe. Since it was getting late and we'd visited everyone who was willing to open their burrows to us, I took my leave and headed home again.

It was very nice to see all the different styles of decoration and maybe I can put some of the ideas I got to use sometime. Perhaps, if we ever meet, I'll be able to redecorate your burrow, mother and father! That would be exciting!

Your loving Zara
