Truths of a fallen Man - The Man in the Darkness

Chapter four: The man in the darkness

The rain was pouring down in Imladris. Thendryt was alone in the stables, tending his horse. Bovad didn't appear to mind the rain, something he had often done in the past. Perhaps he felt safe in the Vale. It was a cold night and Thendryt was eager to finish and find a fireplace. He missed the warmth of the Hall of Fire, where he had spent a few hours before going down to see Bovad.

He had just gotten back from a routine scouting of the Misty Mountains. On his way back to Imladris he had met Osilivren, the damn Elf had followed him for hours just to see how long it would take him to notice. It didn't bother him though. He liked Osilivren, he thought that the Elf was just what the Warband needed.

They accompanied each other back to the Vale and Osilivren seemed a little surprised that Thendryt took the lead.
"I spent more time in the area surrounding Imladris, then actually in it." Thendryt had told him in the Hall of Fire after they got back. The Elf had accepted this and after a short conversation they parted ways. He wondered if the Elf had as many secrets as himself as he watched him walk away.

The light vanished. Realizing he had been lost in thought Thendryt got up to change the candle. As he was about to light the new one, he sensed him. He spun around and drew his dagger.
"That will hardly be necessary Thendryt." The man replied from the darkness. Thendryt relaxed and put away the dagger.
"What are you doing here Bryn? He asked, continuing to care for Bovad.
"Don't be like that, I'm here to give you information." Bryn folded his arms.
"Spit it out." Thendryt looked over to Bryn over his shoulder.
"Odak's been stalking around Imladris." Thendryt burst into laughter.
"You come all the way to Imladris to tell me something I've known for ages? Do you think I can't get information on my o..."
"He's camped in the mountains." Bryn said with a serious look, interrupting him.
"Why should I believe you? I don't hear from the Organization in two years and all of a sudden you know where Odak is and you're going to just tell me?" If Bryn was the traitor within the Organization this could very well be a trap.
"Thendryt... I know full well there's someone helping Odak from within. But think about it, how would I benefit from that bastard staying alive? I didn't know it then but I've been busy since you were captured." Bryn walked over to the other side of Bovad. "What was I supposed to do? Free you? From the Angmarims? And the from Isengard? I can only do so much." Bryn sighed.
"Fine. Tell me where he's camped and I'll see if he's still there." Thendryt looked at Bryn, seeking eye-contact.
"Don't count on it." Bryn answered.
"I'm not."

Bryn told him about the whereabouts of Odak's camp and then started to leave. Before he left the room, he turned his head slightly and said:
"And Thendryt... It's good to see you in one piece."
