A soggy start

I’m Brecklo! Yup that’s me, a Bounder from Needlehole and proud of it!

Seems I ‘ave seen many a folk writing in diaries and the like to record memories and events.

Up until now I’ve not given it a second thought. That was up until I fell in the river up by Brockenborings.

Still remember it now, I was on my Bounder Night watch/shift, I was too busy looking at the small fish in the river and I slipped in. So I tried to make my way to the Inn in Brockenborings and get dry, with the sincerest hope of not being seen by anyone I knew. After all I am a Bounder! I can’t be seen all soggy.

I enter the Inn, duck weed en-tow the barkeep highly amused at the soggy sight I quickly ask to dry me clothes, before a waving hand catches my eye. Miss Amorey and Tahitoa trying to get my attention. I glanced to the door but thought better of it, can’t be running off!, already once I have been the fool today, no need to make it two!

I wandered over feet squelching as I try to discreetly kick off the duck weed.

Miss Amorey welcomed me warmly, though I am sure Tahitoa cracked a smirk at my soggy entrance. I was sat down and given dry clothes, I tried to explain away my soaking by the rain, but the distinct lack of clouds only poured shame on my embarrassment, all the same they were very kind. Food was shared and even Master Simbo showed up!

I ‘aven’t met folk from the Shire Rose before, I’ve seen em play, marvellous tunes in the Dragon, but to be ‘ere and be so welcomed, aye twas a good thing.

They played some songs and enquired no more of my misadventure, Simbo was on form a poet and a witty fellow!

It wasn’t long before it was time to retire my clothes to be dried by morning so I left with those given to me to finish me shift. Not often I have felt so welcomed and that Amorey lass, aye lovely as the name of her home.
