Autumn In The Valley

Situated West of the Misty Mountains and East of the Sea, Rivendell is home to many distinguished Elves. The outpost was established by Lord Elrond Half-elven in the Second Age of Middle-earth. In addition to Elrond and his family, notable Elves who lives there includes Glorfindel and Erestor. The Sindarin name for Rivendell is Imladris which translates to "deep valley of the cleft".
Travelers will arrive at the Last Homely House, an imposing building set in the middle of the vale, which combines the advantages of a temperate climate, perfect Elven hosts, and comfortable accommodation. The Autumn season last from the beginning of September to the end of October, but Rivendell is the perfect place to visit all year round. Guests can join one of numerous CULTURAL AND SOCIAL EVENTS such as the weekly Elven gathering in the HALL OF FIRE every Weds. Night 'till late - music and the latest news are here discussed and ejoyed in the company of Elves. Rivendell also offers a lively market and crafting area , and the opportunity for wonderful walks in the beautiful gardens filled with rare and exotic flowers and trees.

One of the most important features of Rivendell is Lord Elrond Half-elven's great library - here Elven scholars collect and catalog maps and ancient books. This is the perfect place to learn more about ancient Elven lore and traditions and languages. Travelers from all races are welcome and offered shelter, as well as diplomatic delegations from Lothlorien and Ered Luin.
Recently the road leading to the Valley has been unsafe, especially at night. There are rumors of orcs moving down from the mountains, and there have been sighting of trolls across The Fords of Bruinen, but let this not deter visitors from coming. Escorts can be provided on request.
