Afterlithe ( or June as the Big Folks call it) it's the best time of the year to harvest of the Hobbits favourite sweet crop. Strawberries were cultivated by the hobbits as early as the First Age. Strawberries are not only delicious but also regarded as an aphrodisiac and soup made of strawberries, porridge and soured cream are traditionally served to newly-weds hobbits at their wedding breakfast . In the Shire strawberries are sold in straw baskets thus becoming one of the best packaged foods for picnics and other happy gatherings
