Lendes woke up with arms around her, first she froze in al movement, Risthir had never embraced her before, let alone been in the bed when she woke up. Then a groan as the owner to the arms turned slightly, and Lendes at once knew to whom the voice belonged. She turned in the bed and faced Isilorbor. Dawn hadn't even broken yet, and a beam of moon light light up his handsome face, Lendes traced a finger over his scare. Isilorbor slowly opened his eyes and looked at her with a loving smile.
“Hey” He said with a low soft voice, the word was like music in Lendes ears, she returned his smile. Lendes turned her head, looking out of the window again, and suddenly turned pale. She sat up in the bed, with the cover wrapped around her.
“I gotta go, its almost dawn!” Isilorbor's smile faded, and he slowly sat up, his eyes filled with sorrow as he looked at Lendes.
“Please. Don't go back to him Lendes. Please.” Isilorbor took her hands, kissed them and looked deeply into her eyes, almost begging.
“I have to.” Lendes looked away from Isilorbor ashamed.
“My father chose Risthir for a reason.” Isilorbor raised Lendes head by the chin till their eyes meet.
“Why?” Was the only word that passed his lips, each time Risthir where named, it felt like daggers in his heart.
“To settle the differences between our families once and for all. I can't break the marriage off, I simply can't.” Tears started forming in Lendes' eyes, running down her cheeks, as Isilorbor gently whipped them away with his thumb, and nodded, then kissed her lips softly.
“Promise you will see me again.” Isilorbor swallowed hard, he couldn't believed he had said that out loud. Lendes look deeply into his eyes and nodded.
“I promise. But no one can know. It's not me I'm worried about-” Isilorbor placed a finger over Lendes lips and smiled softly.
“It's your parents and me. I promise, no one will know.” He cupped Lendes dace and kissed her deeply. Lendes lead out a small moan as they kissed, closed her eyes and rested her forehead against his, as the kissed ended.
“But how?” Isilorbor looked into Lendes eyes, she bid her lip thinking.
“Risthir?” Isilorbor frowned, his face clearly showed he weren't sure what Lendes meant.
“Well, since he is gonna be in your company, we could send notes though him?” Isilorbor pulled himself a little back so he better could look at Lendes.
“You truly think he won't read the notes?” Lendes shook her head.
“Of cause not, that is why they will need to be coded. I could always say it's to your mother?” The smile returned on Isilorbor's face and he wrapped his arms tightly around Lendes, chuckling gently.
“Sometimes you surprises me Lendes. Its so simple, that I think it might actually work. You send me the first letter. I'll try and figure it out and send you a letter back when I do. Or rather, my “mother” will send you a letter back.” They both smiled, kissed and shared a few more minutes or lovingly embraces.
“I have to go Isil. If I hurry, I can be home just in time to have breakfast ready.” Isilorbor nodded as he unwillingly let go of Lendes and watch her get dressed, with her back turn to him.
Isilorbor wanted to tell her that he loved her so much, it burned in his chest, but he kept quiet. It wouldn't help either of them, he told himself, beside how could she love him? He were often away because of the wars going on, he were a captain, no, they were just friends who found comfort in each others company. His feelings for her, would be best kept to himself.
Lendes turned around and smiled sadden to Isilorbor, kissed him and without a word he got off the bed and kissed her deeply before she left him alone in the barn. Isilorbor were alone in Lendes old room, with an emptiness in his heart, and the sense of Lendes still hanging in the door. He cursed himself, Risthir and the whole situations, now al he could do were waiting for the note.
A few day have past from the dinner party. It was evening and Risthir were out, for the first time in days Lendes had a few hours for herself. Cause since Risthir were in the company now, he wouldn't stay out al night, since Isilorbor demanded al to meet up early. Again Lendes thoughts lingered at Isilorbor what she wouldn't give to be in his arms again. She took a deep breath and looked out the window, it wouldn't be long before Risthir would return, her mind grew dark again. No, she would have to think of something else, Risthir should be aloud to ruin her day, when he weren't even around. Very determinant Lendes took some paper and ink, and started writing.
“Once upon a time, in a kingdom far far away.
Lived a handsome and strong knight.”
Lendes looked at the two sentence, and wondered if Isilorbor would be able to break the codes. She smiled a little to herself, of cause he would, he was very gifted, not only in the way of arms, but he certainly had brains as well. Lendes dipped the quill in the ink again.
“He lived in a beautiful peal white city, in a castle.
The knight had been out travelling for a long, long time, when he finally returned to the white city.”
Calth weren't the White City she knew, but for a fairytale it fitted quiet good, and what else could Isilorbor's house be than a castle, when he were the prince?
“He went to the Inn where he spend much of his time, he offend helped the keepers around the Inn.
Cause this knight weren't just any knight, he was helpful, kind, warm and giving. He had a heart of gold.”
Innkeepers? Would Isilorbor see these were his parents? And how Lendes hoped that Lavinia never found out she had refered to them as Innkeepers. Lendes didn't see them that way at al, if anything they should be the King and the Queen, but Lendes feared that it would be to obvious even to Risthir. She look at the paper and continued her writings.
“One night the wife of the Innkeeper asked the knight go to the stable of the Inn, where there were a new stable girl might be needing a hand, getting the horses settled for the night.
The knight went to the stable, to the stable girl and offered his help, she turn around and looked at him, stunned by his beauty.”
Lendes, felt her heartbeat raise a little, this were her and Isilorbor's first meeting, at his parents vineyard. Now the most important things were put into codes, though Risthir were still missing. An idea formed in Lendes mind, and she grinned slightly to herself as she started writing again.
“The knight and stable girl, spend many days together, were they enjoyed each others company. But one dark day, when the knight were away, the stable girl were taken away by a Dragon, how hold her in his dungeon.”
Risthir a dragon, it couldn't become much more a fairytale than this, Lendes thought to herself, and placed the quill down, and waited for the ink to dry. If only it were a fairytale. Then it would end with the knight and the stable girl living happily ever after. But her and Isilorbor couldn't be together.
She had loved him ever since she saw him, and still did. If only she could tell him, but to what use? He were a warrior, a captain even. How could he ever love one like herself? Beside, she were married, no, they were just two close friends who shared the pleasure of each others company, nothing more. And so what if she loved him with al her heart and always would? She couldn't tell him, ever. Her heart would break when he didn't return her feelings.
Lendes folded the note and went to bed. The next morning she gave Risthir the note, he had grunted a little in protest, but Lendes had managed convincing him it would be a smart move for him, would make him look better in the company.
Now al Lendes could do were wait...
