Born in TA 2811, Balgolin saw the light of day - or rather the glow of candles and crystals - in the Blue Mountains after his parents had to flee from Erebor in 2770. Already as a young dwarven boy he showed a distinct interest in the family's history, to the dislike of his father, who denied Balgolin his knowledge of their own heritage.

Further driven by the secretiveness of his father, Balgolin spent hours studying the books of Thorin's Hall and soon enough went on his fist adventure to the Grey Mountains and to the Iron Hills, were he researched further on the Dwarven Clans hoping to find information about his own family.

In TA 2941 he partook at the Battle of the Five Armies and decided to settle at the Erebor and together with others attempted to recover the lost chronicles of Dwarven history in the defiled halls of the ancient kingdom.

On his 200th birthday, in TA 3011, Balgolin decided once more to travel. By invitation of Dwalin, Son of Fundin, who he met in 2941 at the Erebor, he returned to his birthplace in the Ered Luin and stayed for a few years, preparing for his final adventure: To join Dwalin's brother Balin, who had left for the halls of Khazad-Dûm, yet of whom no news had reached the Ered Luin for years.

In the great kingdom of Moria, Balgolin hopes to find the last information about his family, and to finish his books on Dwarven culture. And so in TA 3018, he began his last journey at Thorin's Hall and wandered ever South, on his final adventure...
