Pocket Journal entry One, "A Change of Heart"

Acelin talked with me today. Not a business talk like usual, a personal conversation. He asked me one thing right before I left that really stuck to me. Of course this was after me telling him of why I do what I do, and why I do not fear death. Some of the words are not verbatim, this is just what I remember. He asked, "You told me you killed your step father after he murdered your mother?" I nodded, "yeah..?" He gave me a solemn look before he said this, "Your mother sounds like a remarkable woman. But let me ask, do you think you have turned out more like her? Or more like your step dad?" he then walked away. I could not answer him anyway. He was correct. Demelin was a lying, violent, abusive bastard. Am I really any better? I do the same as he does, only with backup and false justification. Acelin. He seems to be the only person really looking out for me. But why? Does he just have the need to do well, try and take another brigand off the streets? Does he truly value me as a friend? Maybe something more? He appears to see good in me. I am not sure. I think I can trust him though, more than a lot of people.
