Winter Fun Poem

Oh, Winter time has come once more
And cold the blanket on the floor
With colour drained, the land is white
All Hobbits shiver in the night

Though chilled the wind the fills the air
But don't you let yourself despair
For new delights are all around
And fun is waiting to be found

Just step outside upon the lawn
And feel the cooling rays of dawn
The snow is sparkling, pure and clean
Just like a painted Winter scene

Now grab some snow and press it tight
And have yourself a snowball fight!
See Hobbits run and duck and chase
But argh! You've had one in the face!

Perhaps you'll build a snowman too?
Make him a mouth that frowns at you
And give him eyes that keenly stare
And call him Matzo, if you dare!

And if you need an extra thrill
Just grab a tray and climb a hill
Now sit right down and hold on tight
As down you hurtle out of sight!

Now will you skate upon the lake?
The ice is firm, too thick to break
You'll jump and spin with any luck
But watch out though for skating ducks!

And should you then begin to tire
Just stop and make a roaring fire
For roasting chestnuts sweetly smell
And bake yourself a pie as well

Beside the fire with all your friends
You'll hope the Winter never ends
You'll laugh and joke and chat and sing
For Winter brings some magic things

For there are many things to do
So Winter should not leave you blue
And if you share with everyone
You're bound to have some Winter fun!
