A silent trickle of water

A lone elf sits down near the small stream trickling past the house of Elrond, he ponders the flow of the stream a bit, then takes a roll of parchment from a pocket, along with a quill and some ink.

Slowly he begins writing on the parchment, taking care to set every word straight.

"It has been a quiet night, yet, I did not think my heart would ever find rest. I met hîril Gaomee again, and as I was when first I saw her, again I was struck by her beauty, the grace with which she bears herself, and her lost sight."

The elf looks up with a faint smile playing across his face, as his eyes unfocus, clearly he is seeing again a vision that brings him joy. A sigh of content escapes him as he once more sets the quill to the parchment.

"She has asked me to join the journey to Mirkwood, and I am but happy to travel alongside her and her companions. I know them not, yet they seem like capable fighters.

It will be interesting to once more fight alongside others, though I will be hard pressed to not keep my focus on the wellbeing of Gaomee. I must be vigilant that my feelings for her do not impair on my ability to focus in battle. I never thought someone could grow on me this fast, and this strong.

Perhaps Galadriel had foreseen this... she was after all the one, who tasked me with finding another darkness... she must have meant Gaomee, who stands so strong, despite the loss of vision."

Tilting his head the elf once more observes the trickle of water for a minute, his mind wanders, as he thinks back on the task he was set.

"Protecting Gaomee will be a task I shall enjoy, for simply being around her is enough to make my heart beat faster, as until know I only knew in the heat of battle. What is it about her that thus enchants me?, is it her movements so full of grace?, her slender form, that seems to float over the ground?, or the silver of her eyes, though unseeing yet so full of wisdom and will?.

I cannot say, there is not one small thing that makes her what she is, it is her spirit, her body, her mind and her heart.... they all seem to sing, and thus capture me.

She is to me, as amazing and precious a jewel, as the fabled gems of Fëanor of old.

I would lay down my blades for her, and I would lay down my life."

A look of dawning sensation spreads across the features of the elf, he looks at what has been written on the parchment, reads the words carefully, then says softly out loud:

"I love her..."

The sound of his words are carried away, by the silent trickle of water.
