**A large old book decorated with intricate patterns upon its leather cover rests next to a bedroll in a campsite. Embers still pop and crackle though the fire has long since extinguished itself**
Dear diary, it saddens me greatly that I have not seen my beloved Greenwood the great in these many years. As I sit here in my campsite, on a snow layered hill in Ered Luin, I think back to those days when I would wander for hours alone in that place. How I loved the variety of flora and fauna within that great forest! These many months spent moving from place to place across Eriador have taken their toll upon me, for my heart aches more with each passing day that I am away from my home.
Yet in new found company there is hope restored! New faces bring joy to my heart and these feelings are hard to find in such times. Last night I happened upon a group of mounted Elves riding through Ered Luin and my, what a sight they were! On asking for more details from a Dwarf in Gondamon, I quickly discovered those Elves were the kin-Elves of Loth-I-Lonnath, watchers of the havens and of Ered Luin! Well, it suddenly occurred to me that my skills as a scout might be better put to good use if I were under the command of an able leader rather than as a lone scout hunting Goblins and Orcs where I find them! I made my way to Duillond and the offices of Loth-I-Lonnath as directed by the Dwarf in Gondamon. Upon reaching my destination I was greeted by a group standing outside the offices and soon I learned these were the ones I had been seeking!
Curugirion was their master and after ushering me into the offices I was swiftly sat down by him where he then proceeded to ask me many questions regarding my past and my present! I explained my situation and the sadness in my heart and he took pity on me, giving me a position as a recruit within the ranks of Loth-I-Lonnath!
Perhaps I will not move my camp for a time and will rest here in Ered Luin.
Narvinien, scout of Loth-I-Lonnath.
