An aura of dread surrounds the party as they come upon a pair of Watching Stones on their path to Carn Dum.

On her mission to Carn Dum to retrieve the lost artifact, Adanmiel and her companions of the Warband encounter a Angmarim high priest in entralled with dark magic. After they slay the Angmarim, the group cautiously examine the area, becoming more aware of the great Evil they will encounter as they press further on.

Thendryt suddenly appears before the Maethor during the memorial dedicated to him, shocking everyone who attended.

The company guided by Lord Virthalion are led to an unusual grove of trees. No foul creatures seem to wander past its borders they notice as they step closer.

The company come across the one they are seeking, an Elder of the Dunlendings who they refer to as their Spirit Walker. He informs them that if the spirits are willing he will offer what aid he can. The spirits demand that the company are tested. Thus they all follow the bidding of the Elder and fall into a dream like state after a small ritual involved with rubbing the backs of a large newt onto their chests.

Decisions must be made as the company travel through the night. Time is of the essence!

It soon becomes apparent to the Warband company that the presence of the White Hand has increased in activity since their last foray this far southward.
