After tracking the warband who were responsible for the ambush on the road near Bancross, Duncadda had finally found them camping close to the white mountains. Due to the large number of orc’s, Duncadda kept his distance, taking his time to find an opportunity to thin out their numbers, but also find the culprit that had led the warband into Rohan.

Heartha had already scouted out the area agreed upon, when the others arrived. She had found very few signs of boar, even there. The hilly woodlands to the east of Bancross were usually teeming with wild boar. Why was there such a shortage this year? The hunting party may yet have to rely on the results of fishing, or possibly a moose or two, to fill the mouths of their folk, she mused.

Winter Hunting: The Battle with the Troll

The menacing voices and footsteps thundered against the hunting company, and from the forest appeared a raging troll, and a couple of orcs. There was nowhere to flee, and the battle was inevitable. The troll, luckily still weakened and hurting from previous battles, proved to be a most worthy foe. Even though his sluggish swinging often missed its intended targets, it took nearly all of young Ethel's arrows, and the strength and agility with swords and any other weapons of Waelden, Duncadda, Gamferth, Luccan and Yllfa to finally bring it down.

Winter Hunting: The burned caravan

As the people of Bancross begin their journey home with the meat they had gathered during the winter hunt, they encounter a recently burned and plundered caravan along the road between Aldburg and Bancross. Many people paid with their lives in the attack, ill-equipped as they were, and the mere sight of the disaster would hit far too close to the hearts of the hunting company, in more ways than one. Had fate wished otherwise it could've been them instead, and so close to their hometown.

Diary

I look at the page before me. It was untouched, unmarked. And now it has my scratchy ink lines on it. The writing looks unsure to me, whether the lines should be there or not. A fraudulent attempt by one of the very many who was never taught the art?

Winter Hunting

As food and supplies are running low, some of the people of Bancross goes out for a hunt in the wintery Rohan forests, and will bring home moose and boar to feed the town. As always, they are all thankful and humbled after a grand hunt, knowing that taking the lives of a few beasts may feed many hungry mouths in the weeks and months to come.

A grand feast will be held upon their return, and the antlers will be set upon the wall as a trophy and rememberance of a successful hunt.
