Outward Appearance
A tall man with broad powerful shoulders with a muscular and athletic build. Athrandor is approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and is obviously fit and trains regularly to keep his leen and athletic physique. His hair is of dark brown, short and messy, it often sticks up, due to how he carelessly runs a watered hand through it. His eyes are of a dark blue and offer little trust. He is clean shaven and his face carries naught expression, the scar on his cheek remains a reminder to him. His clothing is tattered, worn and weather-beaten. Tunics of sturdy leather strapped purposefully to his build. He cares little for appearance and can often be seen in some kind of leather armour. A hood sometimes conceals the majority of his face and the sword and knife attatched to his hips are never forgotten. His tall boots are worn and tell many a tale of his travelling. Hardly seen, Athrandor wears a badge upon his collar, frequently tucked below his leathers, it is the badge of a Scout of Gondor, high ranking and loyal. He bears a strong ring, a dagger crossing the metal alternative of a leather strap.

Background

Alternate Names; 'Thalawest {Steady Oath} - reference by his companions when he worked for Gondor. Often uses Thalawest to refer to himself Born at Minas Tirith on the 13th July. Athrandor was an only child so was protected thouroughly by his parents. He was born in a small house on the 4th level which was behind a local blacksmith, that was owned and run by his father. His father was a weaponsmith, and so he spent much of his youth by the forge. Shortly after Athrandor's 3rd birthday, his Grandfather was killed on watch at Osgiliath, by invading Orcs. His sword was passed down to his father, who prompty wall-mounted it in the shop as an heirloom. 2 years then passed, and his father insisted on teaching him his craft. And so Athrandor bega to learn the ways of the weaponsmith, merely watching however. As the years went by, Athrandor began practicing in his spare time, how to fight, his choice of weapon; a sword and dagger. He was often foind slicing up the test dummies out the back of the blacksmith. When at home, he took to throwing small knives at the back of his door, much to his mothers annoyance and so she sent him back to the Forge, where he began to craft simple weapons such as small blades and the occasional sword. By the time he was 9 years of age, Athrandor's skill with a blade had increased greatly as did his skill with a hammer and anvil. He trained whenever he got the chance, wielding the many weapons he began to craft for his fathers business. And the holes in the back of his door became more intentionally, as his ability to throw the knives was increasing also. At the age of 11, he got permission from his father to recieve oficial training from a local barracks in his free time. Which he did for 3 years solid, until he was asked to join a band of elite fighters, for another purpose than war. Athrandor became a scout, a spy, of sorts. He spent much of his time, outside the walls wandering the lands and following his given orders. As time went by, he became a valuable asset to Gondor and was promoted accordingly until he became a kind of Officer, leading this band of 'Scouts' at the age of 16. A further 3 years passed and he discovered hillmen, in the East of the North Downs, he made for Minas Tirith to inform the guard there as swiftly as he could, only to arrive in time to hear of his Parents murder. On his way home, he glanced upon a shadely dressed hillman, bearing a bloddied knife fleeing from the scene. He did not chase, for his desire to see his parents over-whelmed him. He walked into the room, his mother and father laying on the floor, he approached the bodies in turn, his mother dead, his father dying. His father slid a small metal ring (Which he wears on his fore finger today) and breathed his last breath. Athrandor made his way to the Citadel and informed the captain of his resignation, he returned to the house and burnt the evidence of his duties as ordered. He suited up, mask over his face and walked out the door, ignoring the onlookers and made for the gate, never to be seen in Gondor again. He travelled for a further 5 years. Seeing places, memorising routes people did not even know existed. Until he reached the Hillman camp. He snuck in, unnoticed as his skill allowed him. He spotted a familiar figure, entering a tent 200m away, he slipped in after him, drawing his sword and dagger. He jeered the man, threatening him, pouring his hatred out to him. But instead of killing him, he asked for him to raise his sword and fight like a man. He obeyed and they duelled, Athrandor obviously winning, slicing the man's thigh, shoulder and lower abdomen. Until the murderer cheated, throwing a cloth in front of the Ex-Scout, momentarily blinding him as he brought his knife across his right cheek and sprinted out the tent. Athrandor dared not follow in case he was spotted, so he slipped out the back, and away, vowing to finish the job. He made his way South, eventually coming to a halt in Bree-Town. His anger and sorrow led him to earning coin via 'not-so-honest' work, and took to being a hired blade for people in need, and thievery. Until he was set-up,and arrested, thrown into BRee-Town Jail for 10 months. At last he was released, and has returned to his 'work' in Bree.
