Alazarn was born into a poor farming family in Gondor. He rarely saw anything of his father and his mother left him soon after, leaving him to be raised alone by a family friend. His mother reported his existance to the Rangers of Ithilien, who brought him in for training. He learned quickly, and soon went off to search for Boromir's route into the north.

He met many people, but the one thing he always did was he always seemed to disappear. He always vanished, leaving nothing but his name and memories. He earned his nickname, the West Wind this way.
