Outward Appearance

From beneath the helm two green eyes peer, ever-focused but sullen. The Man stands in the corner, always observing the happenings, but never meddling, the greenish spheres jumping about frantically. When the greenish spangenhelm is removed and the two horn-like protrusions are separated from the head, it reveals a youngish face smudged with soot and ash from many desolate regions. Battered by the horrors of battle, a long and deep scar runs across the nose, a trophy carved in flesh. A brown mane, well-kempt but sullied, adorns the face and the jawline is made hidden by a beard. No long locks decorate the Man, for they are easily caught and used as leverage by foemen.

The Man stands at 6 feet, of the burly build that characterizes all Men. His chest is guarded by a plate belonging to Officers, reminiscent of Elven designs, and a green-stained scale shirt. From below the pelvis runs a long, dark vert skirt adorned with plates of Dwarven metal, the hands protected by fur-laden gloves, sturdy and thick leather boots guarding the feet. Hanging from the shoulders is a stout cape of deep green, with military designs embroidered in umber, held fast by bronzen pauldrons.

Two swords sheathed protrude from the sides, ever-ready to cleave a path out of any predicament that happens to arise.

Background

The past is best left undiscussed, Edhelstan oft says, but a few things he is willing to discern: Edhelstan hails from Rohan, born under the name Ulferic and the son of Rideric Isenbrand, son of Theoderic the Edhelstan (meaning stone of the people, called so for his deeds, a name Ulferic adopted during the final stages of the Siege of Mirkwood), hailing from a line of Riders. It is known he too was supposed to carry on this tradition.

Things happened, however, that the Man of Rohan does not wish to discuss. Things that bear shame and anguish and expulsion. Things Edhelstan wished he could run away from. Fate, however, had ulterior motives and cast him headlong into the War. The message is clear to the Champion: this fight is what must be seen to the bitter end to atone for past transgressions. As such, Edhelstan does not wish to tarry long neither in places nor with people, for combat must be followed wherever it may erupt. He was, however, fond of the now dead Elves Dariun and Eruaphadion.

A favorite story of his is a long vigil over the hills of the Lone-Lands, north and west of Weathertop. He and Dariun, a Lore-Master of the Elves, observed from the hilltops in search for Orcs, waiting for them to amass and then strike from the darkness, leave none alive and disappear into the wilderness yet again. This war of attrition went on for weeks without end. This, of course, was before the Elf's untimely demise.

But alas, war is the price of peace.
