Spending his youth in the family’s hall in the White Mountains Thragun grew accustomed to weapons and combat from an early age.  As his family chose to migrate to Erebor Thragun got a chance to see the lands between and grew fond of the thrill of ‘adventure’.  During the years Thragun spent his days travelling between the villages of the north and his home of Erebor spending a lot of time with the Northmen.  As his father set up a trade agreement with a fur-merchant called Farwald Thragun had to spend many a day participating in negotiations between the two family heads. Due to lacking his father’s interest in trade he spent these evenings socializing with the rest of Farwald’s family of which he befriended the eldest son Farawis who he would later head westward with as a protector.
