It has been documented Saereg was born in the hidden city of Gondolin year 272 of the First Age, his parents were both members of the house of the Tree, and he followed them into that honourable house, his first taste of battle at the tender age of two hundred was the disastrous Nírnaeth Arnoediad, his eyes shining with pride at the valour of the brave  men of Dor-lómin as they covered the retreat of the defeated elves.

At the time of the fall of Gondolin, Saereg was ordered back from the front to assist Lord Galdor as his parents had been slain before him in the vicious assault of the north gate, assisting his lord to escort the retreating elves across the Cristhorn after defeating an ambush of orcs, and eventually reaching the mouths of Sirion.  While the survivors abided there Saereg forayed into the wilderness to try and find any lost elves before Morgoth's orcs did. Even remaining there after it had been overun seeking to aid any refugees that remained and guiding them to safety.

After the war of Wrath, Saereg swore his service to Gil-galad who was declared high king of the Noldor, remaining in Lindon until the war of the Elves and Sauron when he volunteered to join the army of Elrond to relieve Eregion, Unfortunately Sauron's army was too vast and the beaten army retreated far north to a hidden valley.

Saereg joined the war of the Last Alliance, returning to Imladris after the end of the second age, Once again taking up his sword when Angmar beseiged Rivendell, returning the favour when a force was assembled and marched upon Angmar.
