Background

The son of Lhanuch, one of the northern outposts of the Uch-lûth has trodden many paths. His life was not to be that of a warrior, such as his mother. Nor did the fields of his father's farms call to him. His fate was to become Derudh, one of the wandering wise folk, priests and seers that traveled. Spending a year an a day in the Mournshaws, sleeping in the crooks of ancient trees and the hollows of haunted mounds he took up his robe and staff.
His early years in that priesthood were spent tending the shrines and springs found within those twisted woods. When it became time, he took it upon himself to travel south into the heart of Dunland. It was the place of a wandering Derudh to be a teacher and a judge, a healer and a speaker of laws. At his tender age of eighteen summers he expected that this would be his life's calling, finding peace and purpose among the hills and villages of his people, helping to guide the folk of the clans through their lives.

What he found fell far short of his ideals. The Draig-lûth had began their campaigns of conquest, bringing the smaller tribes to heel or destroying them in their entirety.
After witnessing the atrocities visited upon the southern villages of the Turch-lûth, he marched into the town of Barnavon, demanding answers. He found a people oppressed, and his own southern kin of the Uch-lûth supporting the Draig-lûth.

He does not speak of what transpired there, but when he left the walls some days later, he was a shell of his former self, hollow-eyed and listless in his wandering. His journeys took him north, not home to Lhanuch but over the river and into the crumbling ruins of Eregion and beyond.
It was five years before he returned once more to Dunland, and he was a man changed. Light was once more in his eyes, and a purpose fuelled each step as his feet and staff thudded along the pathways between the tribal lands.

His days are now spent with those clans not yet under the yoke of the Draig-lûth, using his skills to whisper, bargain and barter for their aid in resisting the jaws of the Dragon as they draw closed over the hills of Dunland.
