Background

Driadriel is old, even for an Elf, but strangely she never traveled outside Lorien until recently. She was a bard at the Court of Lady Galadriel and happy with her life there. Equally strange, she never found in her heart to fall in love and have children. She left Lorien after Iseril was reported to have died in one of his travels by a group of elves of Lorien he traveled with and saved sacrificing himself. Iseril was an elf of Mirkwood who fell in love with her while visiting Lorien centuries ago and kept returning to Lorien and to her in hope of a changed answer. She cherished his friendship and liked to feel loved, she was flattered by his persistence, his gifts and words of love. She also got to ask herself why she cannot love him back as her mind found him no flaw and thought she *should* change in time. She never said yes or no. His death filled her heart with guilt and remorse. She left Lorien not bearing to see the places that reminded her of their talks, hoping to end her sorrow and revenge his death. *** Instead of a meaningless death she found a new purpose and a fascination on human kind. She met and befriended a Rohirrim girl and trough her she met and joined the efforts of Eriador Army, a force lead by Finderin of Tol Eressea, appointed by Elrond of Rivendell to help the efforts of the Free People with as many allies as he can find. With no battle background but also the wisdom of long years Driadriel became his adviser and slowly learned how to fight. Also for a first time someone got her attention in a way it never happened before. He was wise and bold, kind and skilled in battle, defeating Finderin himself in drill. He was Finderin's second in command and trusted by Elrond himself, adored by all under his command. He saved her life once. And he was a man and loved another.. *** So she left again searching peace of her heart. She wanted to put a distance between her and the world of Men, a wold she got attached to so fast and dangerously. She found trusted friends and even another who offered her his love, as noble and kind as her lost Iseril. She joined the defense of Gwingris for a while, she followed him in the depths of Moria where he ventured fascinated of the lore lost at the fall of Moria and helped him set a small library out of their findings. Her fascination on Men started to fade as sudden as it flamed surrounded by her kind, relying on such devoted friends. Yet a mere rumor on her love being endangered set her off to Angmar without a word of notice and a second thought. The rumor proved to be a rumor only but in the far Angmar she met again a person she knew.. or better said he knew her.. from Lorien. He had put himself at her service as a duty bound guard of Lorien to a lady of the Court. She gladly accepted his company. He reminded her of Iseril, putting her sadness that had even cast physical effects on her by now on Iseril's death account. Ashamed on how fast she dared hope to find happiness she confessed the true reason of her despair and faced a hostile attitude towards any union between the race of Men and that of the Eldar, faced all arguments against and all abhorrence such idea brought to those of her kind. She doubts herself once more seeing how against the nature of things her love is seen by Vladras. *** After her return to Eregion she was once again called to help Eriador Army. When Isilorbor saved her life he had to kill a traitor, a mindless tool of the Enemy called Arasan. She found out that tool has been brought back to life as the Ennemy as he did before with those he could use once more. He was after his first target -Driadriel- or after the man that killed him.. this could not be known. She ends up facing him alone and she is almost killed, yet something scares off Arasan and he leaves Driadriel wounded after he initially tries to carry her away with him. Rasheke, a scout of Eriador army finds her and brings her back to safety. *** She realizes no sword and no song can hurt the creature that Arasan became and -as she does not find any of the people of authority in Eriador Army to consult with she leaves to help the best way she can : searching old lore on how to face such enemy before he will strike again. She searches Bregolgael again, tells him of the events and her search and he offers again to help her. Their searches bring them in Moria and Lorien where she mets again Valdras. Helped by her friends she still searches among the old libraries of elves and dwarfs if there is a way to defeat this enemy, not knowing of Eriador Army doom in the battle of Annuminas. She intends to return to Finderin when she has an answer. *** Meanwhile she regained her connections at the Court and her experience of living among Men is treasured. She carries on small errands or negotiations for her Lady. Rumors of a darker danger in Mirkwood start to be heard more and more often at the Court. And from some words one of the most daring leaders of the attackers wears a hooded cloak under which some say they have seen a red military hauberk. Could it be Arasan mockingly wearing the uniform he betrayed? She needs to find her answers for the sake of more lives than she thought, lives of those of her kind.. yet with all guilt she finds a drop of peace in her heart to hope Arasan is as far from Bree as possible. *** As result of the efforts of the emissaries of Lady Galadriel an alliance was forged to push back the enemy towards Dol Guldur and mentein a siege on it -if not defeat it completely- to keep safer the rest of Middle earth threatened by the ever-spreading forces of the Enemy. Many answered the call of Lorien and numerous camps came to shelter warriors and brave people from all races and their swords cut deep the wings of evil in Mirkwood. Yet also many were to pay their lives as price for the victories of the free men. Among them Driadriel, who died to Orcish arrows in an ambush at Taur Morvith in one of the first offensives against Dol Guldur under the command of Hir Veryacano, when the forces of the free people almost reached Dol Guldur before being forced to retreat to an advanced outpost to take care of their wounded and bury their dead.
